Just had a call from the producer of the Adam and Joe Show to tell me my entry's been short listed!! WOOHOO!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D I'm quite proud of my effort but I didn't think I'd get shortlisted. There are loads of great entries. I've never done a completed animation before let alone entered anything into a competition! A chuffty badge please! ;D That is brilliant... and well deserved for such a non-conventional take on the Jane's Brain track! Was it a call from the actual Jude?! What other info do you get for finding out you are shortlisted? The date of the winning announcement? Just heard Saturday's show, and it must be ace to know that your vid was not only watched by Adam, Joe, Jude and Garth Jennings!... but it was short-listed by them too! All the best!

Cheers Dave. It was indeed Jude Adam herself! And she's lovely. ;D I'd forgotten that Garth Jennings has seen it too! The winner's announced on the 16th but I'm being best man at a mate's wedding on that day! I told Jude Adam this and she said it was important that I listen to the show! I'm going to have to dig out my crappy DAB pocket radio that Never Really Worked TM and hope for the best...

Cheers garethbowler and onsuper8! I dunno onsuper8. I think there's some excellent stuff been entered. This one's great although it's let down by its self indulgent end credits which are cleverly done but are nearly three times as long as the actual video!

Cheers Dave! The comments are great. Joe really loved it! ;D Yeah, I didn't get to hear a second of the show but a friend phoned me to tell me the news. I'm just really chuffed that it got short listed. Not winning is fine and I think they chose a good one as the winner. I'm glad my favourite was a runner up too. The cardboard car racing one. Love it to bits. It was only a bit of fun but it gave me the opportunity to prove to myself that I could do stuff like this. And I also wanted to say that the 'can do, will do' attitude of all the film makers on this forum was an inspiration and encouraged me to start it and see it through to the end. OK, Oscar speech over!

Here you go Bill (and anyone who wants a listen).... here's the little section of the radio show where Adam, Joe, and Garth Jennings (on the line) talk about Bill's video. www.atof40.dsl.pipex.com/videowarsbill.mp3Top praise indeed... and didn't you say it was the first thing you have ever animated? Crazy! Or the first thing you have completed? Can't recall now. I could read back to the beginning of the thread, but I won't.

Aww, cheers Dave you're a top bloke. ;D I've got the podcast and recorded some of the show using iRecord anyways but much appreciated never-the-less. My 15 minutes! Always wondered what form it would take... Sweet relief it wasn't me going postal or owt!

I keep forgetting to ask... but chromebaby, could you please explain all the odd references in your animation please! I hear Adam & Joe mention Dune references or something. Never seen it, so I have no idea what they're on about. The winner has video explaining how he managed the impressive billboard shot in his Lego Jane's Brain video: uk.youtube.com/watch?v=B_cRiLu1HlA

It's going to be tricky explaining the Dune reference if you've not seen the film but I'll give it a go! ;D Have you read the book? No? You should. It comes with the 'TUNE' magazine front cover. As well as being an incredibly clever ;D pun on TIME magazine it also references Song Wars, 'tune'. Geddit? It also rhymes with Dune which tied in nicely with the theme I had of the increasingly ridiculous headlines Joe was getting for his Song Wars successes as the animation progressed. The headline on the front of TUNE magazine is, 'For he IS the Kwisatz Haderach!'. Which was the unintentionally hilarious line spoken by the child actor playing St Alia Of The Knife near the end of Lynch's version of Dune. I love the film but it has loads of cheesy moments in it like that. Adam's hand comes in and destroys the magazine using the Weirding Way without using a Weirding Module. Thereby throwing into doubt the claim that Joe is the Kwisatz Haderach when in fact it might be Adam. More details here if none of the above made any sense! en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dune_(1984_film)There's also a quick reference to Planet Meadows. Specifically to a certain Mr T Bullock. Due to my handwriting being awful you might never spot it. It's on the front cover of The Slum next to the masthead. Hope that helped and I didn't bore you to death!

Well it all sounds very clever... I'll just have to trust you that it is. ;D
So did you know that Adam & Joe are big Dune fans or something?

No I just figured they might've seen it them being Star Wars and sci-fi geeks. It wouldn't have mattered if they didn't get the reference. I chucked it in to make me larf. That they got it is a bonus.
