Did anyone else notice in Last Resort that the character Paddy plays could be Jimmy Prophet? Remember the story he tells her about why he's there...

Yeah big Al thats a very good observation, Alfie and Jimmy do have that storyline in common. I know Paddy helped develop the charachter with the director so maybe his previous role as Jimmy Prophet was a background influence on it, never thought of that before.

Just watched this very good Paddy is such a great actor so real. I like the realistic filming (can tell the director is a documentary maker) and the real ending just like life.

I watched this last night and was very, very impressed. It's not very often that I watch a film that gives me faith in the future of British filmmaking - the last film that made an impact upon me was Dead Man's Shoes.
Paddy Considine is terrific as always, but Dina Korzun and Artyom Strelnikov who play the motehr nd son, are equally impressive.
Paddy conveys so many different emothions through his performance that I cannot think of a better British actor of his generation.
Credit should also be steeped upon the director, Pawel Pawlikowski - what with Last Resort and his more recent My Summer Of Love, he is a talent worth keeping an eye on.

I think that the end of 'Lsat resort' really makes the film. Instead of things ending all happy, the camera spinning round the lovers kissing while an orchestra knocks up a crescendo, it ends like a lot of things in life do - quite shit.
I thought it was refreshingly original.
