Thought you'd all be interested in a new horror film that's due to go before cameras later this year..it's called 'BOOTS ON THE GROUND' and stars the one and only Thomas Turgoose from TIE! Info about the project is under wraps-but a synopsis has been released: With just a few days left before the final British withdrawal from Afghanistan, five British sold find themselves cut off and under attack from something considerably more mysterious and deadly than Terry Taliban. There's a bit more info here if that holds your interest british-horror-revival.blogspot.co.uk/2012/06/exclusive-new-military-horror-boots-on.html#comment-formReally looking forward to this!

Thanks. I do agree there appears to be a sort of void in the middle, but the pacing and narrative structure of the film was purposely fragmented in order to mirror her mind set; cut and pasting relationships together. Sounds like a cop-out I know but I swear it to be the truth! The overall idea of the script was to represent a girl building a relationship according to her own desires and obsession, escalating to her making the phone call-which satisfies her. I guess you could say she's caught in a continious cycle, going back to cutting stuff up and putting it on the wall, and then making the call again.

Just finished work on a 3 week project named "Profile" as part of my Film Production course at Arts University Bournemouth. In all we had one week and a half of pre-production, two days of shooting and one day and a half of editing. I produced and edited, with my other team members Sam Farrely doing Cinematography and Penny Cobham doing Sound Recording.
Enjoy, and don't forget to turn your volume up and watch in the dark...works a lot better!

Where do I begin?
Shane and his amazing cast have done it again. I was left both breathless and speechless after each part. We've been following these characters for such a long time now and '88 really hit home to me how much I've emotionally connected to this series-the protagonists and the troubles they face. There was an excruciating tension present again within '88, much like to the film and '86, amounting to the inevitable diversion of the gang and the cracks forming gradually. This was done so, so well-and is something I've never ever witnessed in any other film or TV series.
'88 although following on from '86's plot points and dilemmas projects a very unique and original gothic style which I really think made it so special, perfectly twisting the christmas setting. DOP Danny Cohen has to be congratulated once again for mastering a distinctive look unseen anywhere else, with some really wonderful sequences such as Lol visiting Combo and the arising conflicts nearing the end of part 3.
And talking of Part 3...oh my fucking god! Just outstanding. I love the strong connections to the film throughout, something we didn't really get in '86 as the primary aim was to let it stand alone. But this time things are so much different without stepping too far from what makes the series work-that being a wonderful respect for it's characters and the contributing traits they bring to the narrative. There's just so much to say about all of the episodes; I adored them all. I won't go into too much detail regarding which bits I liked as I'd be here forever, but my favourite bits in a nutshell would have to be...
1. Milky and Woody's confrontation....had me in tears. Two characters which had such a beautiful bond and to see this gradually destroyed really broke my heart. So masterfully executed and outstanding performances by Joe and Andrew.
2. Lol at midnight mass...such an intense scene cross cutted with a chilling soundtrack and beautifully composed visuals. Really meaningful scene and one which will certainly go down in TIE history.
3. Lol's over dose/stomach pump montage....can't exactly get across how amazing this sequence was. From the warped soundscape to the use of footage from the film-everything just seemed to come full circle in such a brief but powerful few seconds. Insane.
4. Woody and Lol-ending scene. After everything these guys have been through, after all the drama...to go to this scene with such a simple and quiet tone but jaw dropping performances really warrants as one one of the stand out moments of this series. So insanely well acted and directed-leading into a satisfying and some what resolved ending (for once!).
TIE '88 was everything I wanted it to be, and more. Thank you SO much to all involved, for being apart of what I see as by far one of the best pieces of telly I've seen since TIE '86.
Bring on '90!

In only a few hours-the first part of TIE '88 will be gleefully present on our small screens. I can't bloomin wait!
How will everyone be marking this event? I wish I could say I was doing something exciting like shaving my head or getting people round and having everyone dress up as characters, but that sort of enthusiasm isn't exactly shared amoughst my peers. Oh well, guess some beers and a comfy sofa will have to do!
So excited ;D

Milky has indeed been on travels since the events of TIE '86. So says some of the episode summaries that C4 have posted (of which I've only taken a small glance at-quite spoilerish)

I didn't see Combo in any of the pics. Will he even be in '88? He should still be in jail. Maybe Lol will visit considering. Who is the female in the Woody and family pics? I didn't think Woody had a sister. These are AMAZING! They all look brilliant. Loving Milkys, Lols and Combos new look! This is going to be SO epic Ooops, I actually meant Gadget. My bad!

Channel 4 have just released TIE '88's synopsis, and brace yourselves...it's a shocker! Don't read if you don't want to know anything! ______________________________________________________ Renowned filmmaker Shane Meadows follows up the explosive award-winning This Is England '86 with three new one-hour films.
Meadows picks up the action in the Christmas of 1988 as Lol struggles to cope with life as a single mother. Haunted by the devastating events that took place 18 months previously, she finds her reserves of strength ebbing away. With her soul mate Woody heartbroken from her betrayal and in self imposed exile from the gang, Lol also becomes increasingly isolated and alone.
They say Christmas is a time for forgiving and for forgetting, a time of love and laughter and joy ever after. But when all hope seems lost, what peace is there to be found? This is Christmas. This is England.www.channel4.com/info/press/programme-information/this-is-england-88

Loved this. Great editing and camera work, and I love the idea. I would agree with what everyone else said though-that it could be trimmed a bit. I think you could still convey that sense of repeition and frustration due to it being in a shorter period of time, meaning that the frantic cuts and pacing in the films climax become even more effective.
