Since ''This Is England'' is in Post-Production...much to the delight of us ''Meadow-ers'', I was wondering what the next installment of the Shane saga is gonna be. So far, you've had an almost impeccable run (maybe Midlands was a slight blemish....but each to their own).
You can borrow my ideas about a conversation between two miners....actually, best leave it to the more experienced.
Hardy-ha.
Eitherway, can you shine some light on any future projects....a sort of prior showcase of ideas?
P.s. The ''Meadowers'' club psedonym was first adopted by me....

Perhaps you should commit to the ''Bartley Gorman'' biopic?

I have about 10 ideas floating around at any one time. As much as I would like to make King of the Gypsies, it is not as simple as just commiting to doing it. When you are planning to take on someones life story and that story is set over 50 years inside a culture that would be incredibly expensive to replicate, I'm afraid you need alot more money than I could raise in the current climate. It's the age old problem of only being able to get the money by sacrificing the cast for A-List stars and the story for hollywood re-writes. If midlands taught me anything, It's that If I can't do something right, I shouldn't do it at all. I would rather never make it than make a piece of shit. All directors have dream projects and Gypsies is mine. Whether it remains a dream or becomes a reality is in the lap of the gods. One thing is certain though, I will continue to make films as long I can stuff donuts down me cakehole, whether for £1 or 100 million squids I coudln't give a shit anymore. A good film is a good film no matter what, the skill is knowing how much you need to make each one the best it can be. Sometimes (like on DMS) less is actually more, but sadly on Gypsies I need squllions to realize my vision and I'm just not that bankable dude .

A colleague of mine rabbited on about a book called 'King of the Gypsies'. I was a bit dubious about it at first and being tight got a copy via library. It was a hell of a good read and a book i'd recommend. However, I suspect (as Shane says) without hefty financial backing it would be difficult to do it justice even by someone of Shane's calibre.
Anyway this is me showing my age when with some mates we tried to replicate a scene from Psycho with a second hand standard 8 camera. The scene was when the guy walks up the stairs and gets stabbed - do you still have splicers for editing by the way? We would have preferred to do the shower scene but my elder sister balked at that, mainly because we did not have a shower and tin bath was no substitute.

Didn't expect the word ''dude'' to be in your vernacular, Shane.
Eitherway, can you elaborate on some of the ideas your currently envisioning...except for the Gypsies flick.
we've already been through that. Maybe you should branch out into music videos?
Ive always felt your style would go well with a band like Sigur Ros.

just out of interest Shane,. how much do you think you would need for King Of The Gypsies? we could have a raffle, or many raffles, a tombola and a jumble sale.
Someone on the site may win the lottery...

Hi Shane and everyone else
I mentioned this before on the forum some time ago, but Nick Love's new film Outlaw is partly being funded by his fan base. On the website he is giving fans the opportunity of being Executive producers, basically its something like pay a tenner and u get a T-Shirt and ur name on the DVD, pay £50 and get a hoody and your name on the DVD, pay £100 and get the name, the tshirt and the hoody and be an extra. Is this a possible route you could consider?
I mean if you even get just say 100 fans paying £100 each thats £10k for a start and I guess every little helps.
Can't wait for this is England by the way, take it easy.

I heard of your project about an elderly couple, and that of a ninja who protected the community via. unconventional means.
Than there was ''Mary''...
Are these projects now defunct?
P.S. I'd be willing to give you financial aid for a film. But you would have to give me an interview for my mates skinhead zine in return.

Shane - to raise funds etc why not sell tickets to the premier? or to a specail screening of your film where yourself & cast will be there. I for one would snap a couple of tickets up as would many others! just an idea.
