I have only made one short film which had a number of people in.... and that didn't even have any diaolgue, so I'm clearly no expert on these matters haha. We did a straight 12 hour shoot, but the thing was that we all expected to be doing it all day long. Perhaps it is good to warn people what their involvement may entail. That way when you keep making them repeat stuff over and over, they are already expecting it so won't be quite as put-out. Maybe.
It is surprising to hear that you did have lots of coverage of the conversations. Perhaps it is the fact the actors were just waiting until they had their line of dialogue to say, rather than acting as though they are listening to the rest of the conversation too when they had no dialogue themselves. But I agree... it's hard enough getting anyone willing to be in your films, let alone expect them to fanny about all day doing things over and over.

ha ha i think thats possibly what they were doing, or just trying to remember what they did have to say! i just think the coldness, and the fact one of the actors was a bit pissed off cos he couldnt meet his girlfriend, didnt help the line delivery, i think they just wanted to get it done really. thanks again for your feedback mate
