RIGHT NARRATIONS, well when I did that Bringing War Home the narration and mike worked ok and good enough for what I wanted, but I have just made a new film and it does feature some narration in it and its being a complete nightmare, because I have three different sound areas I have the Narration, the actor speaking in certain parts directly and recorded to the camera and also a piece of music playing in some parts of the film to give it an edge and the sound levels are all over the place. You should check out your editing software. Most will contain a 'normalize' function which will make the sound a certain volume. Do this to all three of your soundtracks (narration, dialogue, and music) and they should all be the same level! That way you have a good starting point, and can fade each in and out to max volume knowing that that is the point at which they all have the same volume. Also, you will find this function in any audio editing app, so if you have one, slap the sound in there first to normalize it.

Hi Hyde
Yea that should camera should be fine for what you want to do. I believe that is the next model up from the one I have so its slightly better, you might find the Nightshot function good as well if you are going to film anything at night. They want £250 for that camera in Argos.
Only points to consider, no firewire and I dont think but you can send recorded footage from the camera to the PC via USB. The only thing about firewire is the guys tell me you get better quality footage, but it would also depend if your pc had a firewire port, unfortunatly mine hasnt.

I dont think mine has either, its a laptop I have to. The uality of footage for your films looks fine so hopefully it will be the same for me.
Could you describe what the slot the USB cable goes into looks like? or other uses for it? is it the bit the I Pod cable goes into? USB sounds familiar but I'm rubbish with this techo stuff haha.

I always find it crazy that people are on the internet, but can't do a simple Google search to find an answer they need! Obviously it's smaller in reality. The logo next to it is the USB sign, which should be next to the correct socket.

This is as good a thread as any to ask - as I can't get a firewire port on the laptop, is there some kind of converter that I can plug the DV-out into to put video on the laptop via USB?

But somehow i doubt it, because the whole reason DV is out by firewire is because it's faster it's be weird to have it fast out of the camera and then slowed down through a USB converter. Hmm i've never seen one, you could have a look.

Have you brought that camer yet hyde? Cos i think amazon are crap for electronics. The reason is my dad ordered a CD player stereo thing and it took like 3 or 4 months to come, and it just kept getting delayed. So if you want a camera in a hurry amazon may not be best. But hey, it may be all fine. Just warning ya

I myself have never had an issue with Amazon, and I have bought quite a few items of electrical goods from them. Even when I received a faulty DVD player from them, the returning and refunding of it was pretty painless. You just need to make sure that the item is actually in stock before you order. Also, the free delivery service can take up to 7 days. You can choose express delivery for next day delivery now too, but it costs of course!

Hmm i've never seen one, you could have a look. I can't find anything, it just seems logical that there'd be some kind of device that could downconvert from DV-out to USB. As it stands, I can only edit on my desktop PC with the wonky graphics card/monitor.
