Hey all. I'm back from LA where I was moderately successful. Spent 7 days in Santa Monica (full of poncey rich folk) but I bumrushed the offices of Lions Gate Films with a cipy of Icharus Broken (and they took it from me)! but nearly got arrested for trying the same stunt at ICM. Now I'm back, I've 2 things on the agenda - firstly post off the DVD's I owe to those still waiting - sorry - LA came up last minute. And secondly, tell you all about my new short film, Kate Heart Craig. It can be found here: www.bringitgiveitfilms.com/kateheartcraig.htmFeedback is always welcome and I'm gonna trawl the boards to see what posts I've been missing. P.S. - DVD's are in the post. Cheers all. Happy movie making. Tom.

Nice work fella.
Not to turn this into a cheap friends reunited, but.... Its a very small world, I went to school with Cassie, made it a little strange to see her playing that role. that said, it was a great little short and performance (scary, but great).
Top work both, I'm going to check out your other stuff.
Say hello to Cassie for me, I hope shes doing well.

Link didn't work, from the main site I found it at www.bringitgiveitfilms.com/kateandcraig.htmAnd it was fucking fantastic! It looks superb, even though it's all to-camera talking head sort of stuff it's incredible at it. Reminds me a lot of Marion and Geoff. I don't know how much was scripted and how much was improvised, but Cassandra did a superb job. What a find! I'm doing a short this week with my camcorder (grrr), and even though it's a different thing (mine is basically a rip off of Only Human: Can't Stop Eating, with a little bit of John's Not Mad) I'll be showing this to the main actor tomorrow. Now, if only Kate and Colin could run into each other... Congrats on the LA rampage, too!

Woops... I did put in the wrong link. Yes -it's www.bringitgiveitfilms.com/kateandcraig.htmThanks for the responses. The film was adlibbed, but we had the structure worked out well in advance. I'm pleased with it and Cassie is a top actress, very intuitive and fearless. I seem to have a little rep thing going on with all the guys from Icharus. They're a great bunch of actors, and slowly we're getting the projects noticed. Cheers - Tom.

ACE! I do love a good monologue based idea. When a monologue works well (like this one!), I get completely caught up in it because in some ways it's similar to radio in that your imagination creates the visual details that are being mentioned. In that way, a good monologue can be 'viewed' entirely differently from one person to the next!
Rudely, I haven't recalled the name, but the main actress is ace, and is definitely even better than her performance in Icharus Is Broken.
I see a Marion and Geoff comparison has been made already, and it's easy to see why. Is the mention of "Geoff" being the worst boyfriend a nod to this?

Yes - I think Cassie had a chance to really flex some acting muscle in this film. She was great in Icharus, but she really shines in this. I can hand on heart say I've never seen Marion and Geoff, but I ddo know Rob Brydon's stuff, and so that's a compliment I'll gladly take. The stuff we're working on now, post-Icharus is comedy based, but I can't really say too much more than that because the ideas are VERY sketchy at present. Anyways, glad to see it's liked and I'm gonna take this opportunity to commend the projects I see coming through this board. Seems like people are really getting sharp.
Cheers - Tom.

I like the film, a great character, and obviously acted very well. The fades worked nicely, it was simple and it worked. Somehow i didnt much like the scene where she goes to his house. I personally think she should have took it worse, i dunno i can't put my finger on it, but theres just something i don't like about the ending. Don't get me wrong, it's a great film, a very good idea carried out very well. I enjoyed it a lot. Good stuff, keep it up.

I thought the scene at the guy's house was the weakest part, I don't know if it was just because it strayed from the monologue or the chemistry was off (Cassandra seemed to really overshadow the guy), maybe it was just because we didn't hear what was said, but I don't think it brings the film down. The performance is top-notch, the character is a loon but a sympathetic one.
Re-watched Colin Can't Be Killed Today as well, and liked it more than the first time I saw it. The "old dear" line is very funny.

Yeah, I think the scene just didn't feel as genuine as the rest of it. The girl's acting was very believable where as the guy.. it just seemed too, i dunno not real. And the cut away to far away when we can't hear them.. was kinda weird, i would have prefered the camera to follow it all, and see her REAL reaction. i dunno.
the rest of the film is superb, i'm sorry to be negative! ha. But yeah don't take it the wrong way, this was just my responce. Excellent work.

The camera does see her reaction. It's all her perspective when she finds out that he's moved on. The point of the long shot is that it's a private moment - we want to save her embarrassment, but we can still see her making a fool of herself. Good responses though, much appreciated.

I liked the long shot because it took you away from the intimacy of the excruciating embarrassment. As I was watching it, I was hoping it wouldn't get too cringe making to watch, so that shot was cool.

Really liked this! I'm a bit anal when it comes to shorts and I was expecting to hate it, but really good character and topic. Inspired!
Only let down was the ending was neon signposted and I know it obviously had to happen, but I think maybe needed more cringeyness (if thats a word!) (complete opposite of Dave but hey thats what audiences will be like, you'll never please them all!)
But great!
