does anyone have any advice on entering short films in festivals. i have just completed a short film and i am just finalizing the score which a friend of mine is writing. i haven't really made a short before as i find it too tricky trying to cram a story into a small space. the film i have done has taken me about a month from writing it too filming it, i have edited it as i have gone along and i finished the shooting yesterday. the thing is it started out as a ten minute short but at it's present form it is nearer twenty and i dont feel i can trim it any more so back to the question, is there any festivals which accept shorts of up to thirty minutes long? ps i will upload it here this week so you can all give me my first feedback. by the way it is entitled Tibb the Familiar and it's about a ten year old girl who is tricked into giving up her soul to a familiar.

Best bet is to go to www.withoutabox.com - from there you can enter all your details onto the site and then enter as many fests as you like. It makes sense as all fests ask for specific details, and if you enter say, 5 fests, it takes forever doing the bloody paper work. This is all online and is you only punch in details once. You can then work out which fests are right for your short from the site. Best sites for shorts (from my experience) are DNA, Portobello Road, Slamdance (they have an online fest as well) and Raindance. Hope that helps man.
