hi all please check out and rate my short....ish (15 min) film for me. it is a creepy tale about a young girl who is tricked into giving up her soul by the same spirit that used to visit the pendle witches in the 17th century. i still have a bit of tinkering to do (with the scene of her mother coming down from heaven) and i am still waiting for my music to be finished but i have put some in as a temp measure. hope you enjoy. video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=-3982213486127346731

Well Wiggy
I think that was probably the best short film I have ever seen so far, absolutely brilliant, I had goose pimples on the back of my neck and thouroughly enjoyed it even though it was quite creepy.
Where did you find a kid that acted like that, she was brilliant and the music worked so well whilst she talked.
You need to get that film into some festivals ASAP as it stands a bloody good chance of winning something.

i absolutely loved it!It tottaly creeped me out! An awesome story, very well edited. The spoken monologue inter-cut with what happened worked superbly. All of the scenes were excellent, particually the one where she loses her soul. the close ups of the dog worked so well, it looked so menacing! Also like Dazza said your niece's acting is brilliant!
great film, make more!

Hey Ian. Just got in from work and have (finally) managed to watch this. Let me start by saying well done. I think this is definitely a smart step for you to head in, and you've done an excellent job both in the writing and in the direction, congrats. This shows your talent and skill way very well and if you aim for the right fests, you'd standout (The Eerie Horror Fest comes highly reccommended - . Your niece is a very adept actress - which I think is a compliment to both her and your skills as a director. And the production value (some smart shots, starting with picking up the phone, fingers crossed behind the back etc. etc.) and a nice clean edit. You use musci and sound to good effect, but I think the biggest draw here is your writing. I really hope this does well for you - it's the best film you've made so far, so without going too over the top, very well done. You should be pleased. Keep me posted. Cheers - Tom.

i don't really know what the standards are like for festivals but i would certainly cosider it... Festivals would pick this up. You may have missed a lot of festivals for this year (most finish with entries around summer), but get in early when submissions reopen. Get on Withoutabox.com and do a fest search for: -New York Rooftop (but avoid New York Film and Video - scam artists) -DNA (top fest and a lot of the shorts I saw last year weren't a patch on this) -Eerie Fest (already linked that one I think) -Portobello Road These are my reccommendations for decent fests - Raindance can be a bit ho-hum, but worth a shot. They're star-whores, so film makers at the lower end can get a little edged out. Good luck.

jeees thanks very much, one thing i would like to say is i have to do a bit with the mother from heaven scene also i am waiting for my mate to finish a score for me so for the meantime i used music from once upon a time in america which i think fits really well, what is the criteria for entering festivals with a little copyright infringment (music) well chuffed of the response by the way

I wouldn't touch a fest with copyrighted material mate. If you get in and they find out, they'll drop you like a sack of spuds. Get the score on it before you send it off.

That was amazing. Really liked it. I'm always keen on a good creepy story, and one that features a kid that can act always ups the 'spook' factor (whereas a bad child actor will make the film a giant turd).
Good luck with getting it to festivals and such like, because as Icharus mentioned, most of the stuff dished out at short film fests is atrocious twaddle.
