Right guys, sorry its taken some time but here is the outline of what I need you guys to do and where to send things etc.

I have split people into two groups. 1. Fans 2. Actors, people who have worked on Shane's films.

1. Fans

Ok guys and girls, what I would like is for you to set up an interview of yourself. You can film yourself or get someone else to film you. Try to represent yourself through the way that the interview looks. Think about the backdrop, style of lighting, camera angle etc. I want to get across your INDIVIDUALITY, CREATIVITY and PERSONALITY. So if you have the biggest collection of Meadows memorabilia, why not have that in the background? If you are a skater, why not shoot it at the skate park etc. I want to get across the diversity of people on the site.

Firstly I would like you to introduce YOURSELF, WHAT YOU DO and WHERE YOU ARE FROM.

The questions I would like you to answer are;

what is it about Shane Meadows that makes him such an inspiration to filmmakers and fans?

Why do Shane meadows films stand out?

What was the first Shane Meadows film you saw and in what way did it affect you?

How did you find out about Shanemeadows.com?

What keeps you coming back?

Has the site inspired you to make your own films and in what way? E.g. feed back on your films, a community of filmmakers etc.

NB* Please answer these questions in such a way that the audience don’t have to be told the questions that have been asked. E.g. "the Shane meadows website has influenced me because...." Also can you write each question on a piece of A4 paper in bold writing and hold it up to the camera before you answer, so that when Ryd is editing it he can easily zoom around the footage to find key questions. Thanks.

2. Actors/associate filmmakers

If you would like to answer the questions above that would be great but mainly I'd like you to answer the following;

Which Shane Meadow's film(s) did you work on and what was your role(s)?

How did you get involved in the respective film(s) you worked on?

How would you describe working with Shane Meadows?

Any funny stories or anecdotes?

What do you think about shanemeadows.com and why do you use it?

I want the piece to really focus on Shane's influence on young filmmakers, on fans and how you have been inspired in your own work/lives etc. I also want to get across the sense of community that has built through this website.

Ryd is editing the piece and so he has requested that the films should be delivered in MINI DV format or as a QUICKTIME FILE on a DVD DISC.

THE SMALL PRINT--- JUST FOR LEGAL FILM REASONS I WILL BE MAKING UP A WAIVER FORM WHICH SAYS THAT YOU ALLOW US TO USE YOUR SUBMITTED INTERVIEW/SHORT FILMS AS PART OF THE DOCUMENTARY. THIS IS JUST SO THERE ARE NO PROBLEMS IN THE FUTURE.

Brilliant, can you give me like a month though? I plan on doing my first short film soon which I can send along with an interview and some footage of the meet up at the LFF.

Clips of any short films by people will obviously have to be clear of copyrighted music or images etc. No Weston Super Mare there then! haha

Ah ok, I wont use the Candyman theme for my short as planned then!

Sound may not be an issue with short films, as if the music is copyrighted etc, then you can show sections of the shorts with the filmmaker talking over them. Just an idea.

Copyrighted material is ok to use as long as you dont make money off them, am I right?

but yeah better having no copyright issues in it to bring it down, look at whats happened with Dave's weston mare short!

you can use some royalty free music if you check out the small print, i used some on my short film tibb.

No, it's still illegal whether you're making money or not (and given how a film may get you noticed which then leads to funding for the next film, then technically it's making eventual money and success off the back of someone else's work). But most copyright owners either won't be aware of it or won't bother pursuing it on, say, Youtube videos or films in very small festivals. I know that most festivals worth their salt won't take films that breach copyright. And I think this documentary is ideally intended to be a DVD extra (if it turns out well it would make a great extra on a Shane's Shorts DVD, if that's still happening), which means it can't be messing about with copyright law. Legally, a film with stolen music in it can get as far as a fan-made montage of the best moments from CSI: MIAMI.

Thus far, I've always used stolen music. But I'm gonna have to start getting into creating my own useless sounds with old eJay programs, and contacting local acoustic singer-songwriters.

Or you could just put some different music thats Legal over the top.

Iv got a lot of Friends that are Music producers (well In the making, lol) but they use 2 very good programs called Reason & Cubase.

If you wanted to (and to avoid the issue of copyright), I'd be glad to let you use any of my band's music or my acoustic stuff? I have quite a lot of stuff at home on my 8-track. I could even record some new music for it if need be?

This is great, i'm so glad everyone is so keen.

it'd be awesome to have the soundtrack from people on this forum, it really suits to point of the film too. As with films that have copywrited music, in the edit i could use a bit of the film without music, or even cut the sound out and have the person talk over it, as coyle suggested. I don't think there'll be too many problems with copywrite, but yeah we'll avoid it at all costs.

Salv, any ideas for what i should be filming at LFF at the meet up? Hyde, are you bringing your camera too?
