Hey guys. Been very busy these last few weeks (disappeared to New York on a whim) and working on all sorts of videos/films. Anyways - stumbled across a night in Derby where you can screen shorts. And it's free, every Monday, at a bar. I turned up last night, and they showed both Colin and Kate Heart Craig. Great night. Check out www.myspace.com/fivelampsfilmsIt's the Five Lamps in Derby, and it gets a good turn out, and they put the films on a rotation - so tehy get seen regularly. Check them out, cos I had a great night, and there are a lot of people with similar minds... And as well, they're arranging a screening of Icharus Broken - big night - so I want as many of you guys as possible to get there! Ha ha. Cheers. Tom.

It's Monday nights. You don't need to be there to be a part (I don't think). You should all email the guys via MySpace to check it out. Good bunch of guys.

Fantastic night at the Five Lamps, every film screened was of superb quality. Great to have met you Tom, my son and I were especially impressed by your film "Colin Can't Be Killed". See you at your screening of "Icharus Broken".

Had a great time while I was there. I had to leave at the first intermission as had an early start the next day Really liked Colin Can't Be Killed. Quite Meadowsesque. Loved the Thomas The Chav Engine trailer! Looking forward to seeing that. And I thought 5 Days was well constructed. All very inspiring! Now if it can all start at 8pm next week I'll be able to see more! ;D

Ha ha! I know - they're never seemingly in a rush are they? But soon Icharus Broken is screening there, so I hope you can stick around for that?
I hope that all the other guys from here that can make it along will, especially if you have films to show yourselves. I'm championing this site with the guys there, and I think if you do have a film (no matter what it is), you should get it along to Dean at Fivelamps Films.
Hell, if you want me to take it along for you, just let me know. Anyways - great bunch of people, and I'm hoping to see a few faces there when we screen Icharus. Looking like the end of March or beginning of April. I'll keep you all updated.
Cheers - and if you see me there, grab me for a chat. Cheers. Tom.

What kind of criteria does the event have? Strictly no copyrighted music for instance?

No - anything goes. Well - within reason. There are a lot of student films screened, and a few other bits and pieces. It's getting bigger - I couldn't get a seat the other night - and the crowds are really receptive. So drop Dean a line via www.myspace.com/fivelampsfilmsHe's cool - and I know he's after more films to screen.

I recommend "The Five Lamps" to everybody, get down there if at all possible. Tom's film "Icharus Broken" is certain to make the journey to Derby well worthwhile. In addition to Monday's film night, the pub has local bands playing there on a regular basis - Paddy's band "Riding The Low" is due to play there on the 17th of March. www.myspace.com/ridingthelow

The guy i was talking to in emails on myspace seemed like a top fella. I'm actually sending him my Bringing War Home film which will hopefully be screened. Just wish I lived nearer to the venue as would be up for both the gig and the weekly film screenings.
