Hi Guys
Knocked up a new short film last night as I was bored. Its only three and a half minutes in length but I put it together in about 2 hours including filming and editing so not bad going. Anyway let me know what you think I thought it came out ok. ;D
Synopsis: A heroin addict overdoses and sees the devil but is it real or is it his imagination or an effect of the drugs.

Hello mate just watched it, pretty cool film. I think the whole film could have done with just one continuous track, cos the cuts in the ound made it a bit.. i dunno jumpy. The jump cuts with the video we're in keeping with the style and theme of the film, but i feel they could have been a bit smoother, by this i mean keeping the shot steady but having the object in frame jump cut into different positions. Or on the other hand made them a bit rougher, by this i mean jump cutting between a variety of shots, closer ones, moving ones, steady ones. In your edit it seemed to be between these two, and looked a bit odd. Anyway jump cutting was a good idea and works well.
Got some well framed shots in there. I like how its black and white because that really contrasts with his POV shots with all the colours and such, really shows how different the world looks from his perspective.
I think you could have done with some twist at the end? like.. a shot of the devil not from his POV, to show either it really was the devil or just some normal guy who he perceives to be the devil if you get me?
Anyway still a really cool little short, well made and a good idea. Good stuff mate, keep it up.

That you can pull anything off in such a short space of time is commendable, and to end up with something pretty interesting is even better!
I'm not entirely sure I enjoyed this one though. It felt like you wanted to film a drug-taking sequence, but had no actual film to put it in.
What the devil was the stuff you mixed up.
Drug-taking sequences are always notoriously difficult to do, because you always get people going "that's bollocks, if he injected that he'd be dead in about a minute... look at the air bubbles, etc". I'm guessing you were getting your directions from films?
Oh yeah, and considering he was supposed to be an addict, he had surprisingly nice and damage-free arms. I knew a homeless guy once who was an addict, and I think he would usually inject into the leg.... not entirely sure about that though. A seemingly well-to-do addict with his own house (as in your film) would probably avoid damaging his arms too if he was an otherwise regular looking guy wearing T-shirts and what have you.

Student accomadation was right around the corner from the needle exchange! I too noticed.... perhaps im being picky but.... your clothis was too nice for a heorin addict. If you decide to take it further, get some rough, smelly clothes. Loose the nice glasses and so forth! Other then that, as Dave said quite commendable you made it a night, nice little interesting short. One last question, is your mum a nurse or something? where did you get the stuff from? Or are you actually a smack addict young Barber! |

Hi Guys, thanks for all the feedback and watching. I have actually decided to pull it off Youtube as I wasnt very happy with what I did after thinking about it and I dont think it fits with my other films on there. I thought it was like you said not bad for a quick evenings effort but it was a little too um kinda disturbing and didnt make an awful lot of sense. I thought after myself that an addict would never be wearing a pair of Versace glasses ;D lol. LOL Oh yea Si I got that stuff from a friend at the NHS I wouldnt ever put that stuff in my veins as I have a phobia of needles  |

I too have a fear of needles Daz, Had to be held down for my last blood test, I think its because my mums a nurse! I deffiantly think you should have another crack (excuse the pun) at it, Would be interesting to see what you do! Keep it up Dazza! |
