although its a mite tedious and boring, does anyone know about insuring equipment and productions abroad? Would Torribles cover international shoots? Also, what caution must be taken when pointing a camera at a bunch of people who wouldn´t be signing permissions? error and omissions? This shoot would be for a DVD that will be sold and distributed, probably in several countries (although I doubt in any large abundance). Any advice or experience from documentary producers would be appreciated. or anyone else for that matter!

I've done several docs and promos for Channel 4 and even a BBC drama where we held banners in the crowds saying "We are filming in this area for ...("project name").. and there is a chance you may be filmed - please let us know if you do not wish to be included in our production". C4 in particular do this a lot so the practice must have been cleared by their lawyers. If you specifically shoot anyone and don't have any paperwork on you, you can film them giving their name and consenting to their appearance being used, and that too will suffice.
As for insurance, you need to just ask the insurer - its all crazily expensive that's for sure.
Hope that helps,
Rich
