Yeah cheers for the feedback Ryd, always appereciated my friend.
Checked your vids, some good ideas there, the backwards walking was well done and a nice idea but maybe a little long in that not too much happens...maybe if you'd got a few other things in to mix it up a wee bit more, ball being thrown backwards, couple arguing backwards etc. as your lead character walks by...
'Twilight' was definately your best work with some great camerawork, especially first few shots, and some nice work on sound aswell....i do think the costumes were a bit out of place, and think maybe a few edit effects, colour corrections, brightness/contrast, tint etc. as well as some sound distorsions would have made the attack not only more trippy and surreal but also hide the bin bags as well!
Anyways, anyone else had a chance to check any of our films, any feedback whatsoever would be most welcome, after all, films are made to be watched!

I agree about Esurio was only my second film so i had a lot to learn at this point. It is a tad long and boring! I had other things planned to shoot, like rolling up a hill and stuff. The argument sounds like it would have worked well. I'm glad you think Twilight is the best so far! Seen as its my latest work. I'm also really proud of the work i've done with sound, i've previously never bothered that much, apart from dialogue editing. Yeah effects on shots sounds like a good idea... i guess i didn't wanna go too far if you know what i mean, and spoil it. But i agree it may have made it better. Thanks a lot for the feedback ;D

Also, seems to be a bit quiet around this part of the forum recently, i guess its because all of the TIE love going on, which is fair enough. I wish more people would come other and watch all the films in here, there's some great stuff popping up.

I've just watched them all... and there's not a bad one amongst them.
A couple of them remind me too much of David bloody Lynch (especially the Eraserheadish Magic Trick... which also had a Blue Velvet-esque severed ear... coincidence?). Despite that, I still enjoyed Magic Trick.
I really like the sound mix and effects you conjour up for your films. The sound mix for The Briefcase was surely inspired by Come To Daddy?
Favourites for me were Where My Slippers At? and Scally Boy. Infact, Scally Boy is amazing! The opening with the handbag being booted was inspired moronic-ness!
"Ken Barlow is a bitch" Now I know where that comes from!
Almost forgot the Synth brothers. Another great little film based around sound. "Derek?"
My least favourite was The White Stuff. Errrr.... yet I don't have any helpful criticism of it. Just didn't think it was a good joke for a short film. That's just me.

Hey Dave, cheers for the feedback man.
You made some good observations there, David Lynch and Chris Cunningham deffo have a major influence on us. When making short films you gotta look at something like sound that can really make your film stand out above others, not that either of us would say we're great sound recordists! Most of the sound effects we use are added in the edit.
As for 'The White Stuff' that's the oldest piece of work there, so technically, it's not as sharp as the others. However we kept it up as it still has a lot of ideas and techniques we liked and have influenced our later work, ie. The strange sound bites, The rewind and The milk pouring over the screen at the end...
Anyways, yeah, thanks for the feedback! We're going to look to start doing something else through this summer, both of us need to get jobs first though!
