I shot this last year, I'd say this pretty much defines what a lowbudget independant film is for me, two of my house mates acting, the tracking shots are shot using a pair of rollerblades, and the shot near the end through the fence could have got me in a whole world of trouble as I had to legit down the railway lines to get it. Hope you enjoy!

Hi Gareth I thought that was pretty good, well filmed and a very interesting under a minute short. Good shots and I liked what the punchline was at the end. Nice one.

Yeah I liked it too. Had a nice look to it... and how did you get such a cinemascope effect!
Risking life and limb for a shot that lasts a fraction of a second! That's dedication! hehe

Apologies if this is a stupid question but what is grading and how can you do it in video editing software. I use Sony Vegas which has loads of video effects might it be called something different. I really liked the effect of your ilm.

I really liked the effect of your ilm. Don't know much about Sony Vegas... but in Adobe Premier you have lots of grading options. It's not really video effects, but more like altering colour balance, brightness.. that sort of thing, like you would a photograph in photoshop.

www.kenstone.net/fcp_homepage/cc_legal_fcp4.html check out that and it'll explain the basics!!! I've got mates who use after effects and a plug in with it called magic bullet; www.redgiantsoftware.com/magbulsuit.htmlFrom what Ive seen it's definatly not worth the money, for that vid I just used the colour corrector tool on final cut pro, just a tint of yellow/orange and crushed the blacks, making all the blacks darker seems to make it a bit less video looking Just get your hands on final cut and mess around, you'll easily get some really nice effects in no time! but the hard part comes when you try and get all the colours in every shot matching, I think in AVID it's alot more complicated with graphs and stuff but final cuts done me proud so far!!! also if you've got a mac the program Aperture is brilliant and user frendly for still pictures!!!
