Thanks everyone (especially the stuff about being a genius.... haha).
Being me, with my mind always thinking about ridiculous things and larks, I can't help but think that the comment from djmunic is someone having a joke. The sad fact of the matter is that it probably is serious though. If it is, it just makes me depressed... not because of the negative comments, but because people this stupid exist. Look at the spelling (if you can even call it that).... I'm sure I looked at his profile and it said he was 30 years old. For crying out loud!

Funny Stuff. I come from Morecambe, so this is depressingly familiar to me! WSM seems a little more upmarket though, as we don't have a bullet-train and I think our pier fell into the sea. Also love people trying to call you out on facts and taking it seriously. You know you've done a good job when not everyone gets the joke!

Thanks Gareth and Tom....
I'm always interested in hearing about what in particular tickled you funny bone! The line about the 'metal talons' is one of my own personal favourites. That came about during one of the writing periods in which I was on a roll (or 'in the zone'), and the stuff was just flowing. It's odd actually, I often seem to write things which crack me up because I have no idea where they have come from! At the time it's almost as if I didn't write it because I don't recall consciously coming up with it. It's very odd. I make myself laugh quite a lot like that. Not to bang on too much... (but I like too ;D ), I really think my subconsciousness is a strong part of my writing ability. It's kind of like I fill my head with all the elements of the current subject I am writing about, and my subconscious mind filters it all and fires back great ideas that surprise me. Not always though, there is often head-pounding frustration at not being able to see any possible laughs in a topic.
You can probably tell from my films, but I'm not really a joke teller. There are almost no jokes in my films at all really. I'm just really interested in how you can make things amusing by messing about with language. I'm really interested in language and comedy. I always feel that not only should you focus on the word meanings, but the word sounds should flow in certain rhythms and patterns too. Just by changing one word in a sentence, you make something funny, or make something which was funny, unfunny.... just because the way the sentence sounds has changed even though the meaning may not have. I think you should really think about the word sounds in your writing, and you should stop and think about whether the sounds that your words create add or detract from your intention. Not just in comedy. Just conveying meaning isn't always enough to give writing a polished sheen. Without any thought of the sounds and the flow, you often end up with clunky and just functional dialogue.
Well that's my lecture over. It's just my own personal thoughts on writing... I know nothing! ;D

I think it'd fit well cut up and put before and after adverts in a sketch show,
djmunic's comment almost made me laugh as much as the video!

Lol I love Dave's Weston films. I'm going to Weston next week if the weather is good and will look forward to seeing all the great attractions it has to offer from these tourist information videos. I'm especially excited about the bullet train ;D

Lol I could shoot a follow up documentary finding out how the people of Weston have been affected since the release of the tourist information films. Angry granny perhaps ;D DO IT! Ha ha. As far as I know, the film(s) have made the local paper there a couple of times. I have also had comments on my videos from people who mention that they read other people's negative opinions somewhere.. perhaps letters to the newspaper. If you don't mind asking strangers stuff, then it could be good fun. I don't think I could do it. Perhaps take quotes from my films and relay them to bemused holiday-makers to get their thoughts on the matter. ;D It could be funny if you yourself pretended to take the stance that the films are derogatory and offensive to Weston, and egg people on in that direction.
