We recently did a film with no boom pole. Solution? Sellotape it firmly to a mop, and always, always, ALWAYS electrical tape up the XLR inputs.
ALWAYS.
It can be stereo by recording into two channels. The Panasonic DVX-100 can do this if you input the mic into input 2 and selecting input two on the camera inself. With a mono boom, may I add.
