I shot this in the local recording studio on saturday having just met the band at the lead singer Adam Amor's album launch last friday night, hangovers all around I only had about 30mins to shoot the video as they were recording and mixing three tracks (including this one) on the same day.
it's my first music vid, I'd never really considered getting into directing music videos but I'm really proud of the results and this'll be the first of many hopefully, I'm also doing a vid before the end of this month for the lead singers solo tune Warhead which I'm really exited about and a couple of other local bands have also shown interest,
admittedly there's one or two little things here and there that shooting more coverage would have fixed but... well let me know what you think!

I think its pretty good for a first video. Synched perfectly. The editing was good over all, but sometimes there wasn't enough, the shot of the two and the mic was held for far too long at some points. But as you say, more coverage could have solved this. Some cutaway footage would have been nice in there, even if it was just of the band larking about in the studio without instruments. It was just a bit samey thats all. I liked how the camera panned around from one band member to the other, worked nicely.
Given your restraints, and the fact its your first music video, its very good. Good luck with your future music vids. I'm hoping to start making them for local bands too. I've made about 4 so far. Just editing another one but its more of an experimental thing rather than a video, and its for a track by a big artist. will post it up soon.

thanks man, yeah a couple of people have said it's a bit samey, I just wanted to try and keep the edit down to as fewer cuts as possible I probably over did this a bit though!
I'm currently trying to sort out the next vid I'm shooting at the moment I'm hopefully shooting it all in one take, a big tracking shot, but on no budget thats gonna be pretty challenging!!

I meant to comment already, but I really thought this was cool. Simple and stripped down. The limitations didn't really stop you producing a good, solid video, so well done.
I shot a band video last year, and it was hard, never again. We threw a telly off a 20 foot drop and had a some really cool stuff going on, but it was a difficult sell for the band.
Good luck with these and keep it going.
Tom.

Yeah nicely done Gareth, good way to do your first music video, like Ryd said a bit more variation wouldn't go amiss as a few shots lingered, but it's better to keep it smooth on your first vid, and experiment next time around.
Been thinking about a music vid myself lately, the only thing we've done was the Infamous Gordon rap vid, and although i'm really pleased with it, it's a spoof more than anything.
I should get on it and do a music video, I know a few people in bands and it'd be benefficial for both parties really.

I like it, its a good honest video which acheives exactly what its set out to do. I agree you could have maybe got some more shots in there, but to be honest I quite like the long shots - in some cases simpler can be better.
I've got a couple of music video gigs ahead of me, still desperate to think of ideas for a few. I'm shooting one on Wednesday for a band in the states, not having the band there has made it quite easier when its come to planning although I'm abit worried that after sending the film of for processing and editing it and then sending it to them they won't like it! (It's unlikely because its all been discussed and planned before hand...but I just hope I explained it well enough!)
I'll keep you updated and will upload when its done!

I like it, its simple, I think the black and white works well. I think as a first video it bloody great. How did you manage to keep the camera out of the mirror? Thats the question I have.
