Oh, please don't put Morrisey in. He may the biggest sellout ever, calling himself a suedehead but are too fucking afraid to let skinheads into his concerts. And his music is shite.
It would be a shame if the soundtrack did'nt include Judge Dreads Bring Back the skins, a song that personally has ment a lot to me and lots of other skins all over the world. Laurel aitkens apollo 12 (skinhead invasion) and cockney rejects oi! oi! oi! would be great as well.

Soundtrack has all been finalized now. Managed to get all of the Trojan Reggae tracks that I wanted without exception. Would you beleive that the only stuff we had a major problem with was the Oi! Tracks! Captain Oi, who own just about every single Oi! record going wouldn't allow us to use any tracks what-so-ever.
This business never ceases to amaze me. I was convinced it would be the music with Black artists that would have more of a problem with the racist elements of the film. How wrong was I! It turns out that the Oi! bands are far more sensitive about the NF related material as they are trying very hard to separate themselves from those pre-conceptions and feel (rightly or wrongly) that the film would continue to perpetrate their music as rascist when this is not the case. Understandable, but a shame none the less.

Shane, you ever had any problems with music clearances on your other films?

I remember the Van Morrison track (wild night) on 24-7 was a real begger to get cleared. It took 3 months of wrangling to get that one (Van had to watch the whole film himself).
We also had to let Bonnie Prince Billy see an early cut of DMS as he never normally allows use of his music in films. Luckily for us, they both liked the films and we got 'em cleared.

I can't believe you got Bonny prince Billy, i bet he saw the film and said yes straight away. Its about as lucky as 28 days later getting god speed you black emperor on the soundtrack.
Did you get to meet the prince Shane?

I've an amusing anecdote about Bonny Prince Billy myself.
I go every year to a music festival called All Tomorrows Parties held on the south cost (Camber Sands) in a Pontins Camp. It's a really great festival as there is no backstage areas and everyone is just shoved in together, punters and musicians plus there's always a really fine line-up every time (Broken Social Scene this year were the best band I'd EVER seen live!).
Anyway, we went to the one curated by Steve Albini from Shellac back in 2003, and BPB was one of the artists playing. We were all sat watching Auf Weidersen Pet on the telly when this straggly unkempt guy stumbled into our chalet and asked if Steve was there. We actually had a friend called Steve with us and after an awkward conversation with the man we actually realised it was Bonny Prince Billy who was looking for Steve Albini on his way to the stage to perform.
Really nice guy, but a bit shit with his directions!

Captain's Log:
Stardate... 0537hrs; 30th July 2006
I love Smog and Bill is one of the modern greats (imho). His lyrics are so fuckin' nasty. Like Tank Bullock's meaner, drunker brother with an unsettling boz-eye.
Oh, and give The Clientele's 'Strange Geometry' a listen. I just watched the Sun come up to the strains of 'Step Into The Light'. A sublime experience which i wish y'all could have shared.
'Time for bed'.
