Fair play kezz, i take your point, maybe the fact that Benson doesn't have much dialogue in the film is important because it makes you question why he is with the group in the first place even more. The silent nonce if you like. And there is also the fact that he is a funny bloke to look at with his glasses and little chipmunk face.
Still I think that Benson has more to offer and his character should have been expanded a bit.

PERRY WAS A VITAL PART OF THE GANG I THINK HIS SCENE IN THE SHOP WAS HILLARIOUS, BUT THERE WHERE MUCH MORE FUNNYER SCENES HE DID (KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR OUT-TAKES ON THE DVD) HIS CHARACTER WHEN FILMING SEEMED TO ME LIKE AN OLDER VERSION F MY CHARACTER GADGET BEING BOTH REALLY DUMB AND ALWAYS CRACKING JOKES AND EATING (AGAIN A LOT OF THIS WASNT IN THE FILM) BUT HIS CHARACTER ADDED SOME LITTLE IMPORTANT BITS FOR ONE IF YOU THINK ABOUT IT COMBO COULDNT COME BACK TO JUST A FRIENDOR TWO COULD HE? I MEAN HES A LOCAL LEGEND FEARED BY MANY. SO MEGGY ADDS TO THE FACT THAT PEOPLE FOLLOW THIS GUY.
ITS OK HIDE I THINK YOUR DAD KNOTICED ME HEHE!

I also started thinking about Perry's role. He's never really 'introduced' even though he starts appearing in scenes. He's just hanging about in the background.
Bit weird that I thought.... but then hang on.
Perry's character Meggy just hanging about in the background makes perfect sense because that is what Meggy does with the gang of youngsters. He's always there hanging round them, only ever half involved, like a weird noncey hanger-on.

It's exactly how Kezz defined it; there are weird, sad older men that hang around with kids because they're socially inept. Being among younger people empowers them because they're not judged but embraced. |
