i am being incredibly lazy here. This laziness is rendered even worse by the fact i haven't logged on in ages... but hey, i'll risk abuse and proceed with my laziness anyway:
(1)Anyone roughly know what the budgets were for each of Shanes's feature films- 'small time' through to 'This is England'?
(2) also what films were shot on digital and what films were shot with proper film stock (much kudos to anyone who knows the specifics of these film stocks)?
any feedback will be warmly appreciated

I know Dead Man's Shoes had a planned budget of £75,000 but ended up costing £1 million, not much at all.
Bit hazy on this but arn't all Shane's Features shot on film? I'm not sure about Smalltime though.

i am sure dead mans shoes was shot on digital?! maybe not... shane may have merely commented round the time of dead mans release that digital meant no aspiring film director had an excuse to not make films anymore... fully expected dave to fire back every single answer within the hour!! bit worried now that this info is harder to come by than i first anticipated!? Doesn't have the info for Shane's other films. "shane may have merely commented round the time of dead mans release that digital meant no aspiring film director had an excuse to not make films anymore..." Yeah I remember him saying this, was probably related to his shorts, as he has shot most of them on DV.

course you can... part of the thesis i'm writing is trying to argue that shane's production process (working with relatively small budgets, working within his own locale, working with friends and a closely knit crews, working with stories and subject matter that he has first hand experience of... and so on... any other suggestions appreciated successfully departs from a lot of the restrictions that are conventionally associated with the creation of most feature films and this allows for a creative process that embraces a form of improvisation that has the capabilities to achieve a form of realism that we don't get to see to often in British cinema... or something like that.... early days... cheers for all your help RYD22

Can't really remember, but that was back when the forum was simply a list of topics! My post was called "Concept to consumption" Ha ha Anyway i'll stop being all nostalgic and shut up.

ta dave, already checked that one out- been fairly well informed that it does, but the rule of thumb is that if you can't find it elsewhere then you won't find it there.. i.e. you'll get the details of how much the titanic cost to make but probably not smalltime- it facilitates an easy way to find info thats already out there basically... dead mans was the info i really really needed though so i'm happy... just to confirm- it was intended to cost £75,000?? (and not £750,000... or was that a typo) a million is still a magnificent achievement

Yes I read it in a book when researching for my project. Hmm.. now what book was it.. I can't for the life of me remember. But it was obviously written before the making of DMS and spoke of the plans to make the film with only £75,000, by having a limited crew etc. I wish i could remember what the book was for you mate.. It might have been some shooting people book? But it was just like one sentance. Must have been published in 2003/4. I'll try remember.
