Yep these ones you'd have to pay. Varies really depending on the amount of disruption etc and the size of the budget you're working with. Current budget for the beautiful feature I'm doing is a third as large as my budget for a one off BBC special. Both five week shoots, the feature will still be watched in 50 years but the tv thing will be forgotten the next day. Go figure. To find them.. research, man! Word of mouth, ask in pubs, councils, local historians, hospital estates departments, internet - googling words like "Derelict, closed down" - and as a last resort, online location libraries. eg www.locationworks.com www.amazingspace.co.uk www.lavishlocations.com www.localityunlimited.com - but these guys are mainly London-centric, they charge an absolute fortune.. and the locations they offer are regularly filmed at, which explains why so much telly always looks the same. I prefer to find "virgin" territory as it were, only resorting to the default option when I have to.

Hi Richk i recognise your pictures in the earlier post, it sent chills down my spine they are terrific pics mate, do you have any more? My father was a teacher, there and i lived on the estate so know it like the back of my hand. Did you go into all of ehe tunnels. Its a spooky place now its derelict, dont you think, mind it was spooky when it was open, they breed some strange ones at that college i refused to go which did not go down too well, but i have no regrets. What are you going to use the location for?? Did you go or something? How did you find out about it. Im surprised its never been used before its like some kind of time warp. Is is one for Mr Meadows?

I'm curious about the location too Rich. Looks like a village decimated by the culling of the coal industry. Where is it -Warsop?-and what's the film?
