Went to see it tonight and it blew me away. I'd seen the trailer and that led me to believe it was a bit contrived and that the acting was forced but I cannot express how wrong I was. Tommo was amazing and I believed every word that he uttered. This film was amazing. Fuck Lord of the rings. Fuck Titanic. fuck Spiderman 3. This is what its all about. Real people doing real things and reacting with feelings that real people can relate to. I loved it.

Ive just been sitting watching the Olympics with me mummy Hartley and ive been in tears at the sheer determination, dedication those athletes have! Overwhelmed, Its really inspirational, it makes me want to kick asse, to see genuine people, do so well! Hard work and persistance, when it pays off is the best feeling in the world.....
.....Where s this going?? Ill tell you,
I felt just like that last nite after a tremendous nite at the cinema!
SOMERSTOWN is a GEM!!! I loved it, it made me laugh out loud so many times and made me feel so proud of my friends! The cinema was buzzing!
I went with Gadge a roonie and his mates, Dead Mans and Co and my friend Joel.
I cant say what i really want to, as i dont want to spoil anything at all, but im telling you guys its great!!
I loved PERRY and TOMO... haha. BUT the whole cast are outstanding, its real, heartwarming and simple. The look of the film is truley stunning, some of the shots and the black and white makes it even more unique!!
Again,... Gavins voice is outstanding and distinctive.
Well done to everyone involved in this gorgeous piece of work, its a funny sweet film about what is important in this life when the shit hits the fan!
FRIENDS!!!!! x

I caught up with them in a pub near work and ended up in a curry house, Still feeling pretty rough now.
I can only echo Jo and Vin's comments about Somers Town, Tomo was amazing as was Perry it is a very funny heartwarming story about friendship, love and family.
Just out of interest does anyone know Tomo's (the character) back story? was this ever discussed while making it? It is only mentioned briefly i think.

I'm sure there was alot discussed about his back-story as that seems to be one of the main ways in which Shane works o build characters and performances. Would be interesting to hear more. *SPOILER* All we get in the film, is the brief chat with Kate Dickie's character in the cafe where she asks about friends back home, and Tomo says something like, "They're not my friends, they're just other kids in the home. They're just a waste of space... like me"
