'Eden Lake' opens on Friday next week, cert 18, should be playing in most multiplexes. It will be very interesting to hear the reaction from cinemas in the Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire area, because - as you might have gathered from my earlier posts - those areas' residents aren't exactly presented in a flattering light! And as far as I can gather the pic didn't even directly boost the local economy in that part of the world, as it was almost entirely filmed in Buckinghamshire. The end credits skirt the issue by just saying that it was "filmed on location in the UK." A nagging mystery: why is Mark Devenport only ever in fleeting cameos (this and also 'Mum & Dad' starring Perry Benson)? He was very good in 'One For the Road' and deserves more exposure. Has he ever worked with Shane himself?

Heard both good and bad reviews for eden lake, still i think i'll watch it, sounds my cup of tea.
One for the road was a class film, thought i was the only person who had seen it, the guy who plays the drunk ex salesman stole the show, brilliant actor, unfortunetly i lent my copy to someone and forgot who it was and they havent returned it!!

Haven't seen it but will look out for it. Just wanted to say it's good to see that Finn Atkins is still acting-she was just great in OUTIM.

".One for the road was a class film, thought i was the only person who had seen it, the guy who plays the drunk ex salesman stole the show, brilliant actor, unfortunetly i lent my copy to someone and forgot who it was."The actor is Rupert Procter, and he is indeed superb in that film. Never mind Oscars and BAFTAs, he's the holder of our 'best performance of 2003' on Jigsaw Lounge www.jigsawlounge.co.uk/film/content/view/243/1/And for 2004: Mr Paddy C. for 'Dead Man's Shoes'! I last saw Mr Procter in small role in an OK low-budget Brit-pic which premiered at Edinburgh FF in June, 'Bigga Than Ben', starring Ben thingy of Price Caspian fame: comes out on October the 10th.

I cant find Eden Lake - where is it on and when is it out?

Jo, it's out on 12th September. Was a little dubious of this at first, no offence to those involved with the film, but it seemed a little too similar to the French film, THEM and recent Hollywood schlockfest, STRANGERS. However, a four star review in the this month's Empire has piqued my interest and I'll definitely be checking it out at some point.

Kermode was more on-the-fence than he was negative about it though. He said it had some good 'comments' in it but it wasn't as clever as it thought it was.
He also mentioned that it was written by the same guy who wrote My Little Eye. That was pretty good.

Hey everyone, I went to the double screening of Eden Lake and Sommers Town at Cleethorpes Cinema last night (Sat). Great stuff both films, Eden Lake is not your cup of tea if you don't like the "Torture Porn" style films of Hostel and Saw. The difference between them and Eden Lake being that Eden is truely terrifying as it mirrors the recent cases of teen gang violence that are all over the media. I was scared to leave the screening in case there was young people outside lol and I'm only 22. Seriously though it's a film pretentious critics will hate before seeing it and a great performance from the lead "yob".
Shame about the turn out though, me and my girlfriend were 2 of 7 people.
