Shane used as SONY judge! For cancelled Comp

Dear All
Goes without saying I love what Shane does as a filmmaker and how he works and comes across.
I wanted to ask if Shane new he was being promoted as a Judge for a Sony Make a Movie Competion to make a pre feature trailer that has been cancelled just before the final???
Its left quite a few filmmakers reeling and really pissed off as just at the final judging and after months and months of promises SONY have sent v brief emails out to all the finalists saying thanks guys but the comp is cancelled as Sony have pulled out of the Sony magazine!
The judges were Shane, Mark Herbert and various Sony people.
Does Shane know about this? I suspect he doesnt and his name has been used by sony magazine.
The trailers took a hellava lot of work to produce, shoot, post etc...
