death metal is the marmite of music I reckon, although probably not quite as popular.

Ay up Tash. I love your avatar! ;D Thanks! I wasn't sure if it maybe came a cross as a little rude.... Nooooooo. Not at all! It's one of the best. Seriously. I wish I'd thought of it. It's up there with JTRodreigez's's's's (which I think might appeal to you ), Chewbaxter's grumpy dawg (sadly no more) and Dave's ever shifting collection of Bubbles shots. We all think that's what Dave actually looks like now. If he doesn't use a Bubbles pic, we all freak out. Well I do. I don't really but I get confused. I detest Marmite. Although I used to hate marmalade and shellfish too but now love 'em. I'm open to change.

Woah! haha I had one of their albums back in the 90s.... Wolverine Blues of course! That was a classic track! Oh that's one of my favourites. People still bitch that they went in that direction, but I think it's a rather unique one. Especially at the time. Say, on my way to work, I saw David from Dismember cleaning the subway stairs, but I was in too much of a hurry to say hello, and he didn't see me either....I suppose I should have stopped, but I'm meticulously on time. You know Dismember'sstuff as well?? I bet you'd love Scanners. I'm so busted! ;D I watched "Gamer" last night...and lo, there was an exploding head. And like clockwork, my boyfriend muttered "...exploding head..." ;D Not familiar with Dismember. I'm not all that knowledgeable about death metal, I just dabble! Is death metal the reason you've ended up in Sweden? haha Scandinavia is the home of all these dark metals. No black metal for me though... I'm not a fan of church burning! Gamer you say! "Pricks up ears" Not a good film by any means, but you may be interested in visiting the Neveldine/Taylor appreciation thread (they directed Gamer, and Crank1 + 2); shanemeadows.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=film&action=display&thread=3146I have become worryingly obsessed with these two film-makers recently, but sadly the discussion is just me talking to myself most of the time. No exploding heads in Crank 1 or 2, but there's plenty of other stuff! Tash.... why not start a new thread in the ANYTHING ELSE section in which we can all mention the films in which there are exploding heads. Imagine all those exploding heads you may have missed!

Is death metal the reason you've ended up in Sweden? haha Scandinavia is the home of all these dark metals. No black metal for me though... I'm not a fan of church burning! Dabble, dabble, Diablo!! Actually, death metal was the catalyst to my ending up in Sweden I guess. Entombed came to South Africa for a tour, and I did the sound for the support acts at the last show in my home town. And it was love at first sight with their sound guy. Cute, innit? Batting eyelashes over sound boards and all! I'm not primarily into death metal though, but it is an old favourite. There's some SUPER stuff in there (and I really can't take black metal seriously. That's a Norwegian passtime more than it is Swedish...and all that running around with panda facepaint and tv antennas...and album titles like "Sons of Northern Darkness"...hahahah!!! Who could take it seriously?) My music taste spans over death/grindcore, schizo jazz, dark jazz, trip-hop, glitch core, drum & bass, drill & bass, dream pop, indie rock, alternative whatever, krautrock, 70's psychedelic rock/prog rock/acid folk, avant-garde, noise rock, noir rock, post rock, post punk, underground hip hop, crazy Balkan gypsy music, gypsy punk, Jewish jazz, Italian film music (you know, like Badalamenti and Morricone), downtempo, French sleeze and general genre benders (like Mr Bungle, etc). For example. ;D And I can't let you talk to yourself...off I go to that thread!

Hi Jill! I have yet to truly set foot in England. Wandering around Heathrow doesn't count...

Well you're English is pretty good girl...........your post inspired me to double check. Was actually 2006 when I was there (Stockholm)...scary (how time flies, not the place). Very clean train, patriotic blue and yellow interior decor, with tennis balls inscribed in the carpet. Love Roy Anderson btw

Thanks! I'm not sure I should say it now (heh heh), but English is my first language... ;D I moved to Sweden about 5 and a half years ago, and my parents dropped speaking to me in either Italian or French after age 3 (and yet Italian stuck, but French did not...why is that? ), so English it was. And is. I speak fluent Swedish though, for some reason I picked it up lightning fast. But I do have some bad days where I feel like I'm falling over my tongue, and I end up speaking swenglish. I have strangely unplaceable accent. I've never had one person guess where I was from. Ever. And for some weird reason, people think I look Irish. Apparently that's what you get when you cross an Italian with a Belgian. Tash try toasted marmite sausage sarnies. MOUTHGASAM Holy crap, I'm so sorry, I don't know how I missed the marmite posts! (actually, yes I do...I saw the words "exploding head" in Daven's post and my brain couldn't go further backwards. Sorry about that! I've never tried that combonation, only Marmite and cheese. I'd have to use fake sausages though...I'm a vegetarian - but not an annoying one that makes it everyone else's problem (I'm even a Michael Haneke fan ffs!!). We need meat eaters around or the world would be ruled by barnyard animals. Oh wait, it is. ;D Chromebaby, I didn't actually make the avatar, I told a net frind of mine years ago that I was nicking it for eventual use, and I hadn't used it until my latest streak of registering on these Shane & Paddy boards. I wish I had the patience to learn stuff like photoshop 8and I'd really like to), but when it comes to putting toys on computers, I tend to get all wrapped up in audio editing stuff.
