Bloxy .. that's brilliant. I suppose, as parents, Mike and I were/are a bit selfish, and the choice of films we watched (until they could speak through the gags we made them wear *grin*) were the ones we were insterested in, but we've always encouraged them to talk and ask questions - it's really rewarding some of the things they came up with.
The Infact teacher must have got a shock one day when Hollie wrote in her Monday Diary that we'd been to Homebase then come home and watched a film where the people in the village built a staw man and burnt someone in it ... (Wicker Man)
Mind .. we were the same with music, and happy to say that Prince still is a strong musical force in their lives ..
Once they were able to use the decks, we were buggered, and Panic At The Disco and other stuff was forced on US !

As a little note .. Mike took Hannah to see This Is England at the cinema as I was having a bad day with my back. She was 20 at the time and sobbed from the moment Combo appeared and broke the gang apart. I don't think she'd actually seen anything portraying the racism side of youth before (certainly no British film) and she was absolutely horrified.
We went to a signing of the DVD and she actually said to me, "If Combo is there, I'm not coming in with you, he scared me to death!"
She saw Kick Ass a while back and really didn't like the young lass being beaten up ... too disturbing .. as was Eden Lake.
I LOVE the gritty .. it COULD be real stuff ..
