When Morrell is dancing, brilliantly I may add, in the pensioners club? Tried everywhere and to no avail. Is it on the soundtrack? It's not 'Matty Groves', which I purchased yesterday thinking it was.
Cheers in advance.

This is the soundtrack listing, but I don't actually own a copy myself. Perhaps we can get the answer you are looking for via a process of elimination (presuming it is on the soundtrack CD!).
A Room For Romeo Brass Soundtrack:
1. The Specials - Message to You Rudy 2. Ian Brown - Corpses In Their Mouths 3. Donovan - Colours 4. P.P. Arnold - Everything's Gonna Be Alright 5. J.J. Cale - After Midnight 6. Gavin Clark - If This Is Love 7. Fairport Convention - Matty Grooves 8. Christy Moore - Don't Forget Your Shovel 9. The Stone Roses - Going Down 10. Beth Orton - Stolen Car 11. Eddie Harris - Listen Here 12. Billy Bragg - Everywhere
With my mediocre knowledge of these artists, I say you can discount tracks, 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10, and 12. (I have only discounted track 7 because you have already.. I can't recall track 7 myself). This only leaves 3, 4, 8 and 11. Surely there's other people that know whether these tracks are indeed the one you are looking for.

IMDB has yielded nothing. Right people lets pick up the baton and run with this. Treat it like you would a 'Blue Peter Aluminium Can Appeal'. It doesn't sound like Christy Brown. I might do a lyric search on those outstanding tunes. If anyone's granny was in the club; go ahead, ask them. Oh and cheers dave.

If anyone's granny was in the club; go ahead, ask them. Ha ha.. if only it was that easy. I doubt they used the same track on location for the OAPs to clap along to (which I'm sure you probably realise already). It was probably some golden oldies on at the time. Plus I'm pretty sure that you could have any music playing and the mad dance would fit just as well. In fact, having said that, the music in the film at the time isn't supposed to reflect what he is dancing too anyway is it? I wouldn't have said so. I've just realised what the Donovan track is.... so it's definitely not that one either!

Come on man, don't piss on my bonfire. The very thought of the "Evergreen Club" body popping to that tune is enough to brace me for the winter ahead.
I'm away to check the Billy Bragg one. Phone the Van-Dyke's, ask for Barry.

The plot thickens!
Right, just found this tiny little write up on the site of a record label called "Double Agent Records":
Based in the UK midlands, Unisex were formed in 1996 by Stephen Lawrie & Jo Doran from The Telescopes - and Nick Hemming, who wrote the soundtrack to the Shane Meadows film "A Room for Romeo Brass". The group is structured around the songwriting partnership of Hemming/Lawrie.
The only releases of theirs on that site seem to be after the Civvy Street Fiasco track was recorded (probably on another label).

Takes a girl to sort these things out. Well done jen for the powers of deduction!. It is Unisex, 'Civvy Street Fiasco'. Nick Hemming and Steve Laurie recorded it years ago. I'm not sure if it is on any of the Unisex albums. Funnily enough Nick is coming over to our house today so I will ask him and let you know. Shane wants to get some masters off him so maybe one of his tracks may end up in 'This Is England'.

Could you please ask him where I could get a copy of this. I need to have it. It's not on any of the albums, well not as far as I can see anyway. I will be buying their albums on the strength of this tune. Does that sound like a guilt-laden request?
