I was under the impression that a few members from this board were going to see the cast of TIE at The Approach in Nottingham why no reviews?
Are you like me not sure how to describe the evening?

hey all, i have posted before but have had to reregister as i've since changed my email account. i've been observing this thread since it went up as i also attended this night and was shocked by what i saw. In my opinion it was a fiasco. I understand that many of the cast member are young and perhaps a little less reserved than me but the way they put themselves across was atrocious. All that was expected of them was a 30 minute Q & A ,many were so high that the struggled to construct a coherent sentence. The actress that played smell seemed to be on a completely different plain of exsitence to the point where had I been a friend or family member i would have taken her home. I noticed people leaving after ten minutes realising that there was little in the way of information and depth coming from the majority of cast members I reckon nobody wants to slag the cast off for thier behaviour which in my oppinion was shameful seeing as all that was expected of them was thirty minutes of attention. luckily I had great company and great food. I would also like to hear the oppinions of others who attended that night.

Hi PurplePuppets.
Thanks for the report. Sounds like a bit of nightmare... in fact, sounds a lot like what Shane and the production team were trying to curb during the '86 and '88 shoots too!
On one level you think, well yeah, it's a bunch of youngsters enjoying themselves... so what.... but when it's an event in which they are the main reason people have payed to attend, then you have to wonder what they're thinking. Sounds like they need wrangling at all times! haha Shame there wasn't anything of value that came from such an impressive line-up.

Thanks for that PurplePuppets i was hoping some who attended would speak up i think we are supposed to just report the good stuff and ignore the dreadful behavior. I'm old now and out of touch with the way youngsters act but i think it was pretty obvious that strong drugs plus alcohol were over used by most of those taking part. I'm glad someone else posted as i didn't want to be the only one saying these things (I know that sounds wussy but i have a bad reputation on these boards without bad mouthing the chosen bunch) Dreadful night.
Things i did enjoy that evening hearing Stephen Graham phone he spoke really well of Shane. Andrew Shim confirmed TIE 90 has already got funding from Channel 4. Also hearing Kezz say a few words and getting a round of applause from the audience he was the only one who spoke any sense and the only one all night to get clapped.
PurplePuppet did you think that Ros Hanson (Smell) was kind of bullied by the rest of the cast, she seemed to be alienated from the rest maybe a falling out among some.(I know she was i a state but they did seem not to like her)
By the way are you from Nottingham? If so where i Nottingham? Why the name PurplePuppet? How come you don't post more on here?

Jill did you get to the Approach Gig? I'd be interested to hea your views I didn't go Clifton. Just too busy with work at the moment I met some of the cast-and Shane and other forum members-at the London premier of TIE and also in Glasgow, including Gazz (who was relatively sober, very friendly and quite charming ). Sounds like I didn't miss much, which is a shame.

I hear that some of the TIE cast members are making there second trip back at The Approach Pub in Nottingham for another gig I for one won't be attending this time. I'd love to see them and hear what they had to say if Shane was with them I'm sure this would lead to a decent night unlike the chaos of there last gig when they just seemed to be taking the piss as well as our money. You have been warned www.theapproachnottingham.com/u_an-audience-with.aspJust spotted this time its £15 per ticket last time it was £10 massive rip off

Half the punters watching last time had walked out after about 20 minutes. I'll be interested to read the reviews of anyone who goes to see them this time.
To me it's just a cash con with The Approach and TIE cast getting a nice pay packet.

firstly I want to say that I feel really bad after reading some of the comments on here, and I feel I should defend myself and the cast against some of the other comments, because some are way off, but admittedly some are close to the truth, although not 100%.
Firstly the positive feedback from the event, I had several journalists in that night and received some great feedback from them on the night, believe me, if they wanted to stick the knife in they could easily have done so.
A cast member mentioned in a previous post was not all together "with it" and has been replaced, all the cast apart from said member did everything they could to speak, pose for photos, sign autographs through out the night.
My mistakes I would like to apologise for were not having seating out, this caused a huge problem when the cast came on stage, with the crowd surging forward and blocking off everyones view, We gave the cast a silly amount of alcohol before hand, as with anyone this got taken advantage of.
To rectify this we will do the same as we did with the night we did with the cast of Red Dwarf, which also sold out and was a huge success, we will have stools throughout The Approach.
Another point I want to point out, with the price of tickets being £10 on the previous night, Do people think it is cheap putting a cast up in a hotel, paying for travel, fee's, paying the bar tab etc etc, in reality it really was not a "cash con with The Approach" or a "nice pay packet" I refute that immensely to the point of liable, especially after raising so much money for charity, which we'll be doing again this time for Macmillan.
Another thing that I would like to add, Yes it was a little rowdy, but I must of had 50 people telling me they had the time of their lives, so it couldn't of been that bad. I admit some people wanted a calmer evening, and I've done as much as I can to aim for that this time, with the addition of Hannah Walters, Stephen Graham and Vicky McClure, the cast have also been told they'll not be drinking before the Q&A.
And lastly I want to argue the point made about people leaving after 10 minutes, we have a count on the door and most people went outside for a cigarette after the Q&A but came back in after, I think this is proved by how hard it was to get through to the toilets!
Hand on heart guys I've genuinely got the fans at the foremost of my thoughts, I do appreciate anything people want to say to me or give feedback for any future event night so here is my email leewallisevents@gmail.com
