My present employer owns Riber Castle. If you want to look round then give me a shout - he's mightily puzzled at our interest ! *chuckle* Saffy1999@gmail.com Ahhh.... that'll explain why you were getting a bit heated earlier in the thread! I would have a nose around, but I live too far away to make it worth it.

Heh .. actually no, not really .. I've lived in this area all my life .. apart from working in Ibiza back in 1982 - and living in London for a short while (as ya do) .. Riber Castle has always been there .. in fact, we chose the plot of land we had our house built on because you could see the castle .. heh.
Have actually expressed desire in one of the apartments when they are built ..

Saffy, as a matlock girl, do you know which nightclub Shane is talking about on the commentary for DMS. Is it the Underground or the Pav dya reckon?

Isn't he on about the (United Services ?) club ? The one opposite Somerfield? Funnily enough, I knew someone who worked behind the bar there and she said it's just like the film !

Unfortunately have only seen DMS on the small screen (DVD) but I think the United Services Club gets a mention in the credits.

Hi,
The nightclub mentioned in the dvd commentary is the Underground Club! The United Services Club was the Sonny's Club location in the actual film. We held the film's wrap party at the USC (no dead bodies in the toilet that night!) then went on to the Underground... actually I think it was the best wrap party I've been to..seriously!

Thanks for that Rich, it'd been bothering me for ages.
I think it's fair to say that's the first and last wrap party that will take in the pleasures of the underground.
Another thing, i've figured out and been to pretty much all of the locations where the film was shot, except for the hut which Richard stays in, was it somewhere near Winster? And did you buy the green and white 2CV from a local 'cos i'm sure i used to see it driving around before the film was released.

*chuckle* .. The Underground was always sort of Underground .. they had a Northern Soul night there ... at "Sandies" as it was called then .... quite a respectable one too !

Out of interest does The Underground still exist?

Ah Richard's Lair.. ok, it's in the Bonsall area. To the west of Bonsall, find Moor Lane (it quickly becomes a farm track, best to walk it. When the tarmac runs out near a farmyard, continue uphill on Moor Lane for about 300 yards and at the crest of the hill the lair is in the field on the right. The field is private property but the hut can easily be viewed from Moor Lane itself. One day.. the Dead Man's Shoes location tour..featuring pub stops, a picnic and re-enactments..!?

Thanks again Rich, might have a wander over that way this weekend.
I'm definitely up for the DMS locations tour, I think it would only be right to have a convey of greeen and white 2cv's as the tour buses.
