just watched sin city and noticed when the cops kill marvs friend out side the farm he goes nuts with a hatchet and kills all but one whos gun has jammed then marv gives his line about the nice coat and slowly walks towards the cop smiling holding his axe in his hand in the same way and very close to the same screen shot of paddy used for the poster. I realise this could just be me seeing things again and im sure paddy wasnt the first to hold an axe grinning like that but i think knowing what i know of tarantino and rodreigez they will have seen dead mans shoes and could have slipped in the shot as a homage.
what'd yall think?

The pic with Paddy with the axe on the poster wasnt a scene from the film though. It was one of the photographs that guy did, you know the ones? there on this site somewhere.

yeah i know but it is in the film without his jacket on, when they shoot there own man paddy starts walking towards them holding his axe across his waste at the back.
It is a long shot but it just got me how close each shot was, probably just me.

Yeah I know what you mean, those shots are strikingly similar.
I've always been interested to find out what other directors think of DMS. I reckon Scorsese would be a big fan of it.

for real film fans like all of us on here i think it must be that people like scorsese, tarantino, etc basically anyone who knows anything will have heard of shanes films just as we have heard of theirs.
Also seeing as shane has (in my opinion) the best show reel for paddys work how can decent dierector not have seen the films as it is your job as a director to be ahead of the game when it comes to seeing talent.
I'd love to see all these big wig directors of the moment in a room and to see there faces when they watch certain scenes shane has done, for example the ending to romeo is just so bloody tense i could see even kubrik liking that one.
tarantino: hay marty....marty listen up dude, what is a choccy donger?
Scorsese: Dunno Q, gwet me a cwap ov cwoffy.

If I remember correctly, Shane met him at last years Tribeca film festival in New York, and I think it was mentioned then.

Fuck a duck!! Imagine meeting one of your biggest influences and him telling you he likes your work. Gotta be one of the best feelings ever. Shane, if you see this, I (and everyone else I'm sure) would love to know more about when you met Marty! So pleeeeeeeeeeeeeease tell all....

when he kicks some serious ass with a hatchet, just after he tells the face painted cop he has a nice coat and walks towards him with the axe.

Well you have to remember Sin City was a graphic novel before it was a film... so.. I really doubt it copied DMS, just a coincidense.
Shane what did you think of Sin City?

nah im just on about one bit of a scene, a shot that is framed and features marv posturing a bit like paddy. No copy just a possible nod.
Or just my fucked mind seeing things because i have a condition and things get confused.
Shane please tell me in you see anything in the scene?
