This is one of the few things that I taped off the TV that I have kept. I recorded it back in 1987 when it was repeated since then it has been copied and passed around and watched by dozens of people.
And yes Shane it is as good as you remember with some amazing performances from the as then mainly unknown cast. DAVID MORRISEY - Blackpool CON O'NEILL IAN HART credited as Ian Davies JAMES HAZELDINE
I highly recommend that everybody buy and watch this.
;D ;D ;D
Back to the Question at hand first became aware of SHANE when Channel 4 had a series of gangster films on which featured WHERES THE MONEY RONNIE and SMALLTIME I then kept my eye out for anything else Meadows.

Quick update: not long after my original post regarding the search for "Small Time", which had occured haphazardly for 9 years and led me to the discovery of whom actually made the film and this website - managed to make my first purchase on ebay, and you guessed it, "small time"! for the royal sum of 16quid. arrived from the UK to australia 4 days later. to easy!
So, it has been shown to 2-3 other friends, but sadly will be packed into storage as I embark on the trip to World Cup.
But all the other films are still elusive - special order only in oz - although I only went to one or two shops and haven't searched on the web. will chase them all down in europe this summer, this will be my official career for the next couple of months.
There is at least 2 million people (out of 20) with a decent sense of humour in australia, so in the next couple of years, I will embark on an unofficial marketing campaign, it seems that none of my friends know about these movies, and I thought they were half decent people.
Stiffy.
PS.Thanks to the pimp daddy shane himself for promising to rip a copy on to DVD and send it if it did not get released this year. Now not needed, and having read a few posts and educating myself a little, now realise why things don't get released so easily, soundtrack rights etc. and effort for editing in extras. patience is wasted on the old so they say.

I recall Twentyfourseven getting a release and reading a glowing review in Empire. Back then it was the only magazine I trusted review-wise, and I still do to some extent (Although their arse puckering to Spielberg's EVERY film is now a bit nauseating IMO). So I thought to myself "must see that sometime", but then realised where the hell would show it?
So anyway, I was seeing a Japanese girl at the time, really sweet lass who liked her films. One wet, rainy Thursday afternoon I was on a bus on the way to hers, going past the Cornerhouse cinema, Manchester's 'arty' picture house and spotted the words "T-W-E-N-F-O-R-S-E-V-N" (Bless them, they were those stick-on letters that all cinemas used to have) and I thought to myself "Right, we're going".
So we popped back out, rain was still teaming down and we got pissed wet through on the way to the bus-stop. On the way we collected a load of beer and heading into the city centre. When I'd read the review I'd completely missed the fact that Bob Hoskins was in the lead role, so I spent the majority of the early part of the film going "Is that Bob Hoskins? No way!". The most distinct memory I had was the Charlatans being played in one of the scenes. I was heavily into them at the time (Was pretty soon after "Tellin' Stories" I reckon.) and I don't think I'd ever seen a film that featured them. I left with a tear in my eye, we both really enjoyed it.
So that was my introduction to Shane. Pleased to meet you sir.

That classic poem from one of my all time favourite films the truely fantastic film that is ARFRB.
Question: Shane did you write the poem Morrell reads to Ladene? If so brilliant mate but have you ever used those lines in real life? :-)
