For me - it was Romeo Brass. Think I caught it on Sky movies or something. First read an article about Shane when Bob Hoskins signed up for 24/7. Remembered him from that, then settled in for this odd looking movie with these kids in it. Hooked me in no time, and was just knocked backwards by Paddy's performance. Obviously, Dead Man's shoes is my favourite, but it started with Romeo.
Have avoided Once Upon a Time... but managed to find 24/7 recently, and it's quite a gem eh?
As far as Paddy and Shane - the two bring the best out of each other. Paddy's never been better than Dead Man's, and Romeo is (for me at least) the breathing essence of Shane's talent. Funny and dark, and a few colours in between. Nice one.

Paddy is absolutely fantastic in that too.

Have avoided Once Upon a Time... but managed to find 24/7 recently, and it's quite a gem eh? 27/4 is superb. i wouldn't avoid Once Upon A Time.. sure it's not up there with the rest of shane's work, and shane knows it, we all make mistakes, and shane sure learnt from it and made the amazing Dead Mans Shoes. Despite this, OUATIM IS a very good film, to be fair (and this has been said before by someone else on the forum) it shits all over most british films that come out these days, so i highly reccomend you watch. Also the dvd is well worth a buy, simply because on the second disc you get Shanes World, which includes 4 of shane's best short films, and tips from Tank Bullock! and other funny video edits shane has done. so buddy get it!

Shane's world is a gem and well worth having, also I found the documentary Shane made promoting the midlands film a good watch seeing the promotion side of the business. It just also pointed out the obvious what a great down to earth bloke Shane is.
