Just saw this great big load of old computer enhanced arse. Well, not really computer enhanced, more computer detracted.
A few minor sections of it were good to a small degree, I thought, but those CGI effects just distract me. They are slapped on in an attempt to convey epic landscapes/battles etc, but the sheer scale of everything just becomes ludicrous and simply serves to remind you that someone has had a 'copy and paste' fest on their Lucasarts computer system.
Some emotional moments in it. I know this because the music hammered the point home and the characters started shouting in a pained manner.
I guess I am not really a fan of Star Wars anymore, so this has tainted my view of course. It is better than Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones.... just about.
Anyone else seen it yet?

Went to see it at 9 this morn. I agree about the CGI - daft really. Does Lucas really expect fans to watch the films in the order of episodes?
Thought the storyline just about tied up - but the films were lame compared to the originals - suppose they were always going to be.

Went to see Star Wars at the geek time of 12:34 in the morning on Thursday the first showing at Star City in Birmingham. Darth Vader was there with a handful of Stormtroopers! It was scary, i felt myself turning to the dark side.
The film meanwhile, was awesome.
And if Star Wars is gay, then call me Elton John!!! ;D

I just couldnt keep my eyes off those dodgy clones of Jango fett. did any one see the bodge job on the cut and paste between reality and CGI? Industrial light and bollocks. Episode three left me really unsatisfied. I mean how shit were those Jedi that came with Mace windu to arrest palpatine, didnt even put up a fight. and why didnt Anakin keep burning (who put him out?) I thought Vader crying "Nooooooooooo" was comedy as was palpatine goin "oooh im so weak oooh" knob. on the goodside Yoda was the nuts specially when he just messed up them guards without a thought. Still however I like starwas.

Ah.. that's the sort of review I like Morell!
Don't get me started on CGI clones with 'Xbox' style faces. Very poor indeed. And what happened to the potential Wookie fun? A big beach battle on land and sea suddenly starts, and I'm thinking "at last, something good is going to happen". But then what happens, we see virtually none of it. Just a few wookies swinging about like Tarzan (and making precise Tarzan noises too) and some splashing about. Rubbish! Wasted oppurtunity again.
Not sure about Yoda... ever since he started turning into CGI and flipping about like a hyperactive green turd, I've had my doubts. Although I see he is totally CGI now, so at least he doesn't suddenly come over all 'Xbox' when he starts his gymnastics tumble routine. It's amazing this little green jedi master can flip about and duel with any CGI opponent thrown at him, when the rest of the time he's hobbling about on a stick or floating about on some kind of levitating potty (Attack of the Clones if I recall correctly). The first ten minutes of the film had so many instances of people turning into bad CGI to perform ludicrous acrobatics that it instantly reminded me of how bad everything has now become with Lucas relying on his computer boffins.
I want puppetry, models and miniatures!! At least Peter Jackson got a good balance of CGI and model work in Lord of the Rings.
And to quote Morell: "I thought Vader crying "Nooooooooooo" was comedy as was palpatine goin "oooh im so weak oooh" knob."
Best review yet!

If Yoda can kick ass like he does, why does he walk with a cane?
Is he sponging off the (Dagobah) system?
