I know we have a few people like me based in and around Manchester so i thought this might be of interest.
The Cornerhouse is doing a preview of Sunshine followed by a Q&A with Benedict Wong and Dr. Brian Cox, Scientific Consultant on the film and Research Fellow in the High Energy Physics Group at Manchester University. No mention of Danny Boyle being there but he was for 28 days later if i remember correctly.
It has only just appeared on the website and no date/time is listed but these things sell out quick. Box office (0161 200 1500) opens at 12 so ill post more info then.

I'm so out of touch, I don't know what this Sunshine film is all about.... but Benedict Wong is there! Of 15 Storeys High 'fame'. Hope he has a lead role in the film, he's great.

The premise of SUNSHINE is that in 50 years from now the Sun is dying. It is no longer providing the energy and the light that mankind needs to survive on Earth. The entire global community pools its resources to send a mission into space to deliver a bomb to reignite the part of the Sun that is failing. Our story concerns the eight astronauts and scientists who lead this mission. On their journey towards the Sun the crew stumble upon the ship that was sent on the same mission seven years previously, the Icarus I, drifting in space. From this point on things start to go very wrong and it’s about how the crew react under the enormous pressure of their endeavor to save mankind.
I know it sounds like Armageddon, Core, Event Horizon but with Danny Boyle/Alex Garland this is hardly gonna be a run of the mill space disaster flick.

I'm a big fan of Danny Boyle and Alex Garland so i've known about this one for a while. Been wondering for ages when it was gonna come out! Bit odd Boyle doing a Sci-fi and i'm not a big sci-fi fan.. but i trust it will be good cos i enjoy almost all of Boyle's film-making. So i'm looking forward to this one. Shame i dont live anywhere near manchester :\
