The Dillinger Escape Plan on Friday was top notch as per usual! I think that was my fourth Dillinger gig, and was still refreshingly energetic!
Between the Buried and Me were supporting which was great because they are the best metal band in existence! They played a solid 40 minute non-stop (no gaps) chunk of their latest album Colors. Phenomenal. If you didn't know the band before the gig, I can imagine it would have been very testing on the stamina of the uninitiated. haha.
I've been clogging up my YouTube account with Dillinger videos over the last few days! ;D

Last night I got to see They Might Be Giants at the Slowdown in Omaha -- only my 2nd TMBG show ever (after their July 11th, 2004 gig at Omaha's Sokol Auditorium). All in all, it was a fun night... The opening act, the Irish duo Oppenheimer, was terrific -- hooky tunes, driving beats, and chiming, sometimes synthesized vocals. (I bought their CD after the show.) And TMBG played a great set of career-spanning songs, including "Ana Ng" and "Alphabet of Nations" (both of which I'd wanted to hear more than anything). ;D

Went and saw 'Siouxsie' in Mancs. on Friday - belting gig... dod all the stuff off her new album (which is a belter) plus some classics including Hong Kong Garden and her version of the Beatles' "Dear Prudence" - a particular favourite of mine. Glad we went - was a great night. N,

saw gruff rhys (from super furry animals) play an acoustic set at the ICA saturday, great stuff. Also had a preview of his upcoming film "separado" in which gruff traces back his relatives who migrated to Argentina 100's of years ago, From the bits and pieces I saw it looked fantastic.

Caught Neil Young @ Hammersmith Apollo last night, absolutely fucking amazing. played from half 8 until about 11:30, played 1:20 acoustic set then came back with full band for the remander of the gig. So chuffed I've finally got to see him, he's made some of my favourite records ever & to hear him playing those tunes was a dream come true. The only downside was the tedious 30 minute jam towards the end but apart from that it was one of the best gigs i've ever been to.

Recently went to see...
Laura Marling - Glee Club Birmingham- Amazing, such talent for a 17 year old. Highly reccomend.
Guillemots - Oxford Academy - Big fan of Guillemots first album, however having recently heard there new single "Get Over It" I was most dissapointed. Last night, the crowd were terrible, i hate crowds that feel the need to talk all the way through. The venue wasnt that great either... Dissapointed but still enjoyed.

THE MARS VOLTA TONIGHT cannot wait. It's going to be insane.
Also i saw a band called Dreadzone last night where i work. They're like reggae dub. I was very impressed! Everyone in the whole place was dancing throughout! Even i was. Loved it. They were very down to earth, and were clearly having a lot of fun. Had a MASSIVE PA system as well! I'd recommend them if they're touring near you. Great fun dancy reggae dub!

I saw Roisin murphyy last weekend at the Roundhouse. I went for the missus benefit but my god she is good her voice is amazing. I was never big into Moloko but Roisin solo is a different matter. It's the first time I've seen electro live and it was good!

Caught two Jonathan Richman gigs this weekend -- Saturday night at The Waiting Room Lounge in Omaha, and Sunday night at Knickerbocker's in Lincoln, Nebraska. (I've now seen him a total of 6 times in concert.) At both shows he was charming as always, and his drummer/touring partner Tommy Larkins played great as usual; the Omaha show was a relatively subdued (it was Jonathan's first show at that venue, and his first gig in Omaha since the one at the now-defunct Ranch Bowl in October 2001, when I first saw him), while the Lincoln show felt considerably looser. The opening act, Vic Chesnutt, played solid sets at both shows (the Lincoln one happened to be his last on Jonathan's tour); his songs were pretty dark and haunting, but he had a really wry sense of humor, too.

The Eels - New Theatre, Oxford - Amazing... didn't expect anything less.

sunday I saw The Sonics @ kentish town forum. Really took a while to get going but by the end they had the crowd going mental, still got it despite their age.
The horrors supported who were rubbish, pete doherty was supposed to also but of course never showed up.
