Is old TV better than the stuff they churn out now?
How would you like to see the BBC on a Saturday night just pick a year say August 1971 and show us a what was on TV on that weekend surely it must be better than todays trash. It would be interesting to see say the news from that week plus Match of the Day ,Top of the Pops even the old soaps.

To prove that entertainment was better back in the days, here's a clip: Shame I couldn't find a clip of one of Bob's appearances on TISWAS 'specially apt 'cause for some reason I always think about this guy when I read your footie thread posts Clifton.

Very difficult. Needs to be more specific.
America's HBO has shown me top Two best Television shows ever made in 'The Soprano's' and 'The Wire'. However your BBC example might have some stamina behind it..
I was obviously only born in '87, and therefore am not as you Guessed, the Best Test.

Once David Chase stoped writing the Soprano's the whole thing just lost the plot.

Love The Wire but play for today showed plays from the greats from Denis Potter to Alan Bleasdale. Of course this was in the days when there were only three channels and the TV finished at 10:30pm. Still the quality of the stuff shown was brilliant. Might be remembering through rose tinted glasses if you know what I mean. Blue Remembered Hills, Vote Vote Vote for Nigel Barton, The Black Stuff, The Elephants Grave Yard to name just a few. www.imdb.com/title/tt0165592/www.britishtelevisiondrama.org.uk/playfortoday/

Might be remembering through rose tinted glasses if you know what I mean. I think maybe you are. Don't remember the quote exactly, but something like 'It's only safe to be nostalgic when you're absolutely sure there's no chance it'll be repeated' You remember those shows, but how much have you purposely forgotten? And with only 3 channels worth to choose from! 1971-The Partridge Family and Jason King...I rest my case.
