The Independent Film Culture website (IFC.com) ranks Crank: High Voltage as the tenth best film of 2009! That's just one place behind The White Ribbon. ;D "Not all the jokes land, but you have to admire Neveldine/Taylor's willingness to push the boundaries of bad taste and conventional visual storytelling. (The DIY duo shot much of the film themselves on cameras you can get at Best Buy.) They're kind of action heroes themselves: blazing a bloody path into uncharted territory."www.ifc.com/news/2009/12/the-best-movies-of-2009.phpGood to see such websites recognising the subversive nature if the film!

I'd say Shane's films, as uncomfortable as they are sometimes to watch, still have a great deal of humour too. I didn't think there was much that was funny in FISH TANK. That aside, I think Andrea Arnold's work does have a lot in common with Shane's.
And yeah, Katie Jarvis is superb. As was Fassbender (he's a seriously good actor, anyway) and the woman who played the mother.

Although perhaps not as much as in Shane films. Anyway, was one of the things that made the film so good. But we all find different things funny ay? Found her little sister (Taylor?) Hilarious!

See I didn't find the stuff with the sister funny at all. Actually thought her scenes were quite sad, actually.

Yeah? I guess it is sad her upbringing is so bad. But her love/hate relationship with her sister is great. Reminds me of my relationship with my bro. Funny stuff.
