Johnny Cash doing Nine Inch Nail's Hurt YES! Another of my all-time faves. ;D I also love his versions of Nick Cave's "The Mercy Seat," Tom Petty's "I Won't Back Down," Neil Diamond's "Solitary Man," U2's "One," Soundgarden's "Rusty Cage," Nick Lowe's "The Man In Me," and Gordon Lightfoot's "If You Could Read My Mind." Oh yeah, and I love his duet version of Bob Marley's "Redemption Song" with Joe Strummer as much as (if not even more so than) Joe's solo version. Chris Cornell doing Michael Jackson's Billie Jean Cool. Ian Brown does a pretty decent version too:

I like Ian Brown's Thriller too. Was only a matter of time before the thread deteriorated into silliness. John Otway Actually went to youtube looking for his version of You Aint Seen Nothing Yet, but the versions up there are no good. Mmmmm......well, this is hilarious when you're drunk, honest Here's a sample. www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001G2Q3QQ/ref=dm_dp_trk9/276-2268166-6353651

Wow! Who would have thought it was possible to make that song sound tough! Hardcore wizards The Dillinger Escape Plan have done a good number of covers: Aphex Twin's Come to Daddy (Feat Mike Ptton on vocals): www.we7.comGuns n' Roses' My Michelle (pwned!): www.metalinjection.net/av/dillinger-escape-plan-cover-guns-roses-michelleThey also did a faithful cover of Justin Timberlake's Like I Love You.. but I'm not keen on that. WORST COVER VERSIONS! Let's also mention the worst covers we know of for the amusement of all.... Atrocity (apt name for this band) cover A-ha's The Sun Always Shines on TV. I love the original, this cover is unbelievable stuff! The video is hilarious too. It really highlights the badness!

I know Johnny Cash has already had a few mentions, but I had to add his Personal Jesus cover too, I love it!!
Not sure if this is technically a cover as the original artist sings it, but it is a reworking, Gene Pitney and Marc Almond singing 'Something's Gotten Hold Of My Heart' is brilliant:
I heard Muse do an amazing version of 'House of the Rising Sun' somewhere ages ago too, and I love Florence and the Machine's cover of 'You Got The Love' (no link needed, it's been on pretty much every TV trailer recently!!)
Great thread this!

Ryan Adams - Wonderwall (soooooo much better then Oasis, in fact so much so that Noel now performs is Ryan's way!)
