What a splendid idea! Your favourite cover versions! Jill.... do we think that labelling what the links are is a better idea? It's a bit disconcerting clicking an un-labelled link. I may know I hate the song so may wish to avoid it! haha. I may also hate the band or artist doing the cover-version too! Double bad! I liked the Hawaiian blokes version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow! Now, let's think, what covers do I know of and like.... Well, my fave band and prog-metal geniuses Between the Buried and Me released a whole album of covers. Don't worry, my two favourites are not metalled up at all, they're pretty faithful to the originals: Queen's Bicycle Race and Blind Melon's Change

Please Please Please Let Me Get What I Want (originally by The Smiths) Clayhill (this video is from the Union Chapel gig, much prefer this version, cos I hate morrissey's voice.. a shame cos I love the lyrcis. This cover is ideal then.)

Hey Jill that's an interesting YouTube channel you've found with all those Beatles covers. Can't say I think much a Low's Nowhere Man though. One of my all time favourite covers is Respect by Adeva. This is because when I heard it thought it was a top tune. But I was blown away when I found out it was a cover of the Otis Redding classic. It's more of a reworking than a cover. My tiny mind, to this day, can't link them together as being the same song. Respect by Adeva The familiar version... RESPECT by Aretha Franklin which itself is a cover of this, the original... RESPECT by Otis Reading I also offer up another completely off-the-wall cover of RESPECT by The Rotary Connection. Once again I can't hear any similarity to the familiar Franklin version we all know and love. Respect by The Rotary Connection Don't forget the hot sauce!

Some rather splendid tunes popping up on the thread already..........
The adeva version of respect is pretty good.
I went to see Low at the Birmingham Academy a few years back......one of the few times I've spent the whole time at a gig looking at my watch, they were so sloooooow. Oddly, since then they've really grown on me-like 'em a lot.
There are loads of good Beatles covers around; here's two I particularly like.
Echo and the Bunnymen Ticket to Ride
Cornershop Norwegian Wood.

Couple more Beatles covers, by one of my favourite bands Thrice:
Eleanor Rigby: (awesome outro)
Helter Skelter:
Punk covers are cool
Stand By Me (Originally by Ben E King.. is that right?) by Pennywise: great fun!
Ghostbusters Theme (Originally by Ray Parker Jr ) by some Unknown Ska Punk Band:
On a side note, has anyone seen the original Ghostbusters Theme music video?! I can't believe I've only just seen it! It's rubbish, BUT BRILLIANT! Has random 80s celebs shouting "GHOSTBUSTERS" including the awesome John Candy. Also features Ray Parker Jr appearing from underneath a bed! Hilarious.
99 Red Balloons (originally by Nena) Goldfinger: (they even sing it in German in the middle, NICE!)
Smooth Criminal (Originally by Michael Jackson, as if you didn't know!) by Alien Ant Farm: Awesome music video, definitely one of my all time favourite covers. Shame the video is out of sync, all the other ones I can find are awful quality.

Helmet - Army Of Me (Bjork) Nice! I don't know how I missed this cover by Helmet! Army of Me turns out to be really suited to the Helmet sound then it would appear. I'll mention some more of my fave covers soon. Probably will be mostly noisy ones this time. ;D
