I taught i start a thread on short films everyone liked and would love to show others on this forum. I've recently got back into looking at short films and just wanted to see as many as i could.
Oscar winning short from Martin McDonagh, who went on to direct the great In Bruges. Probably half of you have seen this but for me its a great short film.

I love that short film. I bought the DVD even though it's easy to see it online. ;D
Pity Martin McDonagh isn't all that interested in making films though. He seems to prefer to stick to writing stage plays.

This was posted in the film making section a year or two ago by the maker who I bumped into at QUAD's short film night this week. A wonderfully mysterious visual poem that unfolds before your eyes. It's beautifully filmed too. It got a good reaction from us when it was first posted.

There was another short film from the old days of Channel 4 short film seasons, that I remember fondly.
It was called: "Waiting for Go"
It involved a man dressed as a chicken at a crossroads.
Never seen it since.. it may turn out to be rubbish after all this time.

It really inspired me when I first saw it too.... but that wore of soon enough. I'm a lazy sod! ;D I just love Martin McDonagh's dialogue. Pity there's only this and In Bruges.... and no sign that he wants to do any more films. When am I ever going to go to the theatre.. for goodness sake Martin!

His dialogue is always on the money. He's quite the name in the theatre world but unfortunately like yourself I'm not really plugged into that world and recently missed his play in Edinburgh because of ignorance. Would be great to see more films from him.

Perv! A new addition to my own favourite short films - Sis. Dave mentioned this one recently in another thread and it intrigued me. I saw it last night at a short film night where Dirty Egg was playing. At the risk of sounding arrogant, I think Egg has comfortably been the best film of the night at all the previous screenings. But I've got no problem saying that last night, Sis was the best one. Kudos to everyone involved with it. I don't want to give too much away because it's best left watching with no info (I knew part of it from the other thread here, and I think it would've been much more effective if I hadn't known that).
