First off, I have to admit I don't know everything about this service yet, but I'll be downloading the free MUBI app from the PS Store when I get home from work and giving it a good testing!
MUBI seems to be a film streaming service that concentrates on independent and international films. There are some free films to watch, but most stuff is hired for a fee. Either a monthly 'all you can watch' subscription, or 2.99 per film. Hmmm... seems a little steep perhaps, but you can view the film you have rented for 7 days... so good for studying if nothing else.
It also seems to be a film based social network where you can discuss, share, recommend, etc films with other users.
All sounds intriguing, especially as they are promising special events, such as international film festival coverage and premieres too. There's one on the 20th for a film called Revolucion... premieres in cinemas the same day!
Dead Man's Shoes is definitely on there.

Just to add, there is a section called Garage which consists of short films (the kind of thing many of our members make). Not sure whether or not its 'invitation only' to get your film up there. In any case, it's a very good site to view high quality shorts from around the world. I don't post on the MUBI forum, but I've been signed up for a while and I think its an excellent site!

The LoveFilm app thingy went live today on the PS3 too!
had a quick peek and it looks nice. You do need to be a paying LoveFilm subscriber to stream any films... and I am already, so that's good. But with my cheapo current subscription I only get 4 hours worth of streaming a month. So, about 2 films. Oh well, better than nowt. If you are already on a subscription that costs 9.99 a month or more, then you can stream unlimited amounts of films!
On the Meadows front, they seem to have Le Donk, Smalltime and Where's The Money Ronnie? available for PS3 viewing.

When I was signed up on a Lovefilm trial a couple of months ago, they didn't have Smalltime up for streaming anymore (they did when I was a member last year) but perhaps they put it back on when the DVD was released.
Is there enough free stuff on MUBI to justify downloading the app?

You can join MUBI online at no cost. This will enable you to see what's no offer. There tends to be about half a dozen free films, usually international cinema and not well known, but often very good. The free films change fairly regularly. The rest are about 2.99. There's a lot of other stuff on the site, including Garage, that I mentioned before, all shorts and all availale to watch for free (I think).

Is there enough free stuff on MUBI to justify downloading the app? Not really. The PS3 version is definitely not as jam-packed with films and freebies as the regular web version at the moment. However, the app is free of course, and pretty tiny, so it's worth getting to have nose about in it.

I cba to download it if there isn't any free business going on. Should they start to make it worth it though, I'd be grateful of any heads up! Cheers.

The Guardian have reported that both the ITVplayer and the 4OD service will be coming to the PS3 this week! Nice! Well, 4OD will be nice.... is there anything ever worth watching on ITV?

So upped my package with Lovefilm. Can now watch most stuff online. Shame the newest stuff still has to be paid for. There is some gems though. Any recommendations?
