The acid sequence

I was just wondering how many different mixes and edits you got through before deciding on the final sequence for the film.
The reason I ask, is that I have noticed that a few clips of the sequence shown on TV and in trailers often have a different sound mix than that which appears in the final film. I guess that this means that you still felt you could hone the sequence further even after some of it had already been used for the trailers?
How long did you spend editing that sequence alone?
Questions are for Shane obviously, unless anyone else is in the know!
