My local radio station are running a competition at the moment to meet A-ha and see them live at a local pub for the person who is prepared to go to any lengths to meet them. I've been a big fan (admirer I'd say) for twenty years and my wife is a mega fan so I rang up and said that I would sing A-ha songs spontaneously at the top of my voice in a number of public places, such as the supermarket or town centre on a Saturday afternoon. My singing voice is atrocious (this is more for my wife than me honest! shes up the duff at the mo). Yeah I know a-ha are shit right? Take on me blah blah blah (their Coldplay's favourite band you know) but I gurantee there'll be top ten this week. Actually met Morten Harket briefly after a gig at the Manchester Evening Arena last month but i digress.
Which five or so LIVING people would you most like to meet and why? Heres mine.
1. Thom Yorke (the guy is a genius) 2. JOINT Shane or Paddy (I get the feeling it would be like chatting to someone in the pub) 3. Quentin Tarantino (if I could get a word in edgeways) 4. Clint Eastwood (childhood hero might be a bit quiet though) 5. Steve Coogan (comedy genius although I've heard he's a bit of a wanker in the flesh(no pun intended))

Funny you should mention A-ha... I recently had the song "The Sun Always Shines On TV" stuck in my head, so I decided I had to hunt it down for a proper listen. I was quite shocked when I found I thoroughly enjoyed it! haha Anyway, five punters I'd like to meet.... not sure I'll make it to five.... No particular order of preference: 1) Sean Lock - Best comedian around at the moment.. and creator and star of 15 Storeys High! See indulgent post for more info! 2) Armando Iannucci - Scottish/Italian comedy supremo! The man behind a load of the best comedy around. Remains consistantly brilliant unlike Chris Morris who has started to go off-key. Seems a thoroughly amiable chap too. 3) Ricky Gervais & Stephen Merchant.... well maybe. Mr Gervais often admits to not being comfortable with people wanting to come up and talk to him, and is also a self-confessed irritating git. Would be cool to see how the two of them write together though I reckon. 4) Terry Gilliam - Brazil is my favourite film, so I'm a sucker for most of Mr Gilliam's other films (12 Monkeys, Time Bandits, etc). I even quite enjoyed The Brothers Grimm, but that was probably thanks to the luke warm reviews it received which in turn lowered my expectations. Seems a pleasant enough chap from seeing him in Lost In La Mancha... and also has an unusual laugh (although not as unusual as Mr Gervais'!) 5) errrr.... I may think of another one later
