I am a Glasgow based actor/filmmaker and have had a few short films do the festival circuit. In 2004 I had my second short 'Reflection of a Life' at Sundance and now another recently completed short out there, premiering at Edinburgh in 05. With a feature planned for next year, currently being written. Like Shane, I too have no formal training as a filmmaker and his success to date reinforces the ambition of people like me. Would Shane be at all interested in receiving a copy of my work, as a mere token of my gratutude to him for his inspiration and indispensable presence in the UK as one of the most prolific voices of independant film? And because we also shop at H Prestons. Its a long friggin drive fae Glasgow however!!! I dont want to start an avalanche of fan mail or gifts but if so I would be happy to receive an email from him or someone within his representation with information on details on how to get it to him. Even if he doesn't watch the film the DVD's are great as Coffee Cup Coasters!
my email address is bryan@dabhandfilms.com or bryanlarkin@yahoo.co.uk

sure...'Reflections of a Life' can be viewed at do a film search. Its the 10 minute version however at the competition has a 10 minute limit on film submission durations. The 15 Minute version is far more powerful, well so wever been told and that is only on DVD at the moment and not online anywhere. My latest short film 'Miracle of Silence' is only just completed and not on a PC format only DVD, VHS and BETA SP as yet but more information can be obtaioned at my company website currently being updated. www.dabhandfilms.comAll the very best Bryan

I've worked on several short films and having just checked out bryan's film and i must say that, technically at least, it is excellent. The story is perhaps a little cliche but the execution is fantastic, the acting probably stands out the most above many short films and the shot selection is genuinley intriguing, though a little overbearing at times (i.e the repetative cut-aways to the bottle.) In what is essentially quite a slow moving plot for such a short film the director has obviousley worked hard to hold the audiences attention throughout the more slow-to-progress times within the plot. A very deep selection of subject matter combined with a very promising execution make this definatley worth a watch.

Good quality reviewing there! Nice to see some constructive feedback.
Not seen it yet, I'm guessing I have to register with the triggerstreet site to watch the short?

lol, thanks dave! well if all fails for me as a filmmaker at least i know i could take a crack at reviewing! Yep you'll need to register with triggerstreet, but it's definatley well worth it! Totally free and it gives you access to thousands and thousands of short films. I've done a bit of lecturing at my old college about filmmaking (as i'm only 19 i get on okay with the students still) and that site has provided me with endless material for discussion.
I'm a big fan of Mr Meadows' work so i'll be visiting here reguarly i think. It seems bizarre now thinking about it as i studied 24/7 when i was doing my film a-level, to think that there are now kids studying my work.. it's actually a little scary!
Anyways, it's always good to meet like minded people so i'll try and hang about here and catch a hello from the man himself if he's passing through...
