The film in my previous sticky has been removed from my site to make way for this new one, that I directed myself. It's a camcorder thing I did with a couple of my mates, but I like it.
That was cool.. Some nice nods to Dead Man's Shoes & Northern Soul there.
The fight scene was done well I thought. Always down to the editing usually I reckon. Plenty of nice slow-mo too! haha.
Oh yeah, how do you compress it to only about 3.5mb and the result is still very watchable?? What settings are you using?
There's a setting in Sony Vegas for rendering WMV videos by connection speed choices (I assume it's intent is to render clips for streaming)... I think it was just the 128KBPs video option. Though I'm not sure, I'll have a look when I'm next at home. I was quite pleased with how it compressed, though the movement is often compromised.
Thanks for watching all. The fight scene was the scene I liked least (the editing was partly responsible but we shot it rather poorly as well), I enjoy the montage and the brother's death scene. As for nods to DMS, the next one will crank the homage-o-meter up to 11. Yep, ours goes to 11. The music at the end was Bonnie Prince Billy "A King at Night" also in DMS. And yeah, Brendan's scream during his Crab Stance is good.
I have, but I can't remember my password and I never bother going into my hotmail to find it! If you look around, there are a few posts by me registered.
I reckon the fight scene works well, because the way it has been done ads to the bizarre comedy of it I feel.
A similar example is in Where's The Money, Ronnie?.. where the fighting consists of lots of rolling about on the pavement.
The montage was nicely done. When it flashes back to the brothers playing the game and saying farewell to each other (in slow-mo) it fits really well indeed.
Keep these shorts coming! Where's everyone elses efforts? Anything will do... as my latest offering sets out to prove! haha (See the 'Tourist Information Film' post).
LOL that film is awesome! love the DMS line there! brilliant and the karate kid reference! absolutely legendary. i laughed my arse off watching this lol. keep makin films! best
