well the most updated version of FCP is HD if you get me? thats just what its called, so really its just another update. i got the 4.5 version, and used software update, and it updated to HD for free.
i don't know if its any different from the earlier version apart from the fact you c an edit HD in it. I think there most probaly is as there is with all updates they change things, but nothing major i dont think. i just updated cos i knew it was free and its always best to keep updated. theres a new one now which is final cut 5, i think it just comes as a package called final cut studio or somthing.
what version of final cut are you using?

I use FCPHD as well, but it can't actually edit HD without a shitload of hardware upgrades (I think our media centre has either none or one Mac that can actually edit in HD, but all of them use FCPHD). I've never used any earlier versions, so I just wondered what was different about them to the non-HD user. Apparently proper HD is about 200Meg per second... That's a spicy meatball.

haha lolylops. We screened some hi-def stuff at work yesterday. It was 1920x1080 resolution, and looked pretty ace when projected onto the cinema screens via a Sony hi-def player and hi-def digital projector. It was that BBC thing, Planet Earth. Because the BBC natural history department is based in Bristol, we sometimes get requests from them to screen things for them to look over.... like rushes and stuff. We should be getting the full-on 2k digital projection system here soon (ish) too! The 1920x1080 picture was no way as good as film (when shown properly), but it was great never the less.
