hi again chaps! i am at the end of the year going out to poland to make a documentary about the geography of the holocaust with my mate who is a teacher and an holocaust educator, we are doing it for the imperial war museum and it has come about after he took the one i edited for him on a lecture (i edited some footage he took for his studies into a doc for him) the holocaust educational trust loved the film and that is why we are re-making it. i was just wondering if any one had any advice for me on making docs and if you had the time could you watch my first attempt and point out any basic mistakes i have made. the main one is the camera work but as my mate was on his own he filmed it himself. i want to know also if you think i should make it look as if my friend is out there on his own as that is one of the things that makes the first attempt attractive. you can see my first one here but it is long so you would perhaps have to watch it in parts. cheers for any imput. www.vidiLife.com/index.cfm?f=media.play&vchrMediaProgramIDCryp=77A8BE5A-A699-44FA-A04F-3&tc=136711

VERY GOOD I THINK ON THE SECOND ATTEMPT YOU SHOULD INVOLVE YOUR FRIEND MORE, YOU KNOW PUT HIM INFRONT OF THE CAMERA NEXT TO IMPORTANT THINGS LIKE THE MONUMENTS AND MEMORIUMS AND HAVE HIM EXPLAIN THEM FROM THERE AND NOT FROM BEHIND THE CAMERA. (OVIOUSLY THIS COULDNT HAVE BEEN ACHIEVED BEFORE IF HE WAS ON HIS WN) I WATCHED ABOUT 30 MINS OF IT UP TO NOW AND I HAVE TO SAY ITS VERY GOOD. I HAVE SAW HUNDREDS OF DOCUMENTERYS ON THE SUBJECT OF THE NAZI'S AND HITLER. HOWEVER THIS ONE IS DIFFERENT AS IT SHOWS GERMANY ,POLAND ETC TODAY AND HOW TIME HAS COME ON SINCE THEN I REALLY ENJOYED WHAT I SAW M8 WELL DONE. AND ILL PROBZ TRY AND CATCH THE SECOND ONE AT THE IMPERIAL WAR MUSEUM (IN MANCHESTER RIGHT?) GADGE!

thanks for watching!!! without being boring ill quickly tell you what happened cause of this. after i put the film together i sent it off to the holocaust educational trust who got back to me and informed me they really liked it. my mate had just started out as an english teacher and they wanted him to get in touch. he did and was offered a job teaching the holocaust to schools freelance whenever he had the time. since then he has got a job at the imperial war museum in london educating for them but he has to do some training first. he did a talk for them on his experiances teaching etc and he showed them the dvd, my mate said it was an untouched format of the holocaust and the head of the holocaust department really liked the idea as a kind of teaching method for schools and they want us to have a go at making a proper one. so having a hobby can sometimes make things happen ie my mate getting the job and me getting somthing done worthwhile for my eventual cv.
