hello everyone, i was just wondering if any of you out there know of anywhere to download stock footage royalty free for use in films, i am making a short film which is a horror and i could do with some stock footage of the moon etc (as you know it is hard to film the moon as it always looks so small) i also need some footage of hospital corridors etc, cheers to any one who can help!!!

Hi Wiggy, I dont know of anywhere but that would be cool if anyone does know. I used to have some footage of the moon its not that long from memory have a look on this link its at the begining, if it might be any good let me know and I'll see if I can find it out for you I always keep everything I've filmed.

cheers dazza, but no it isn't really what i'm after, i need a close up shot of the moon so you can see the craters plus it has to be dark and have clouds floating past, kind of what you see in werewolve films.

Ok mate no probs sorry I can't help you out with it. My only other thought was have you had a look around Youtube? Also do Pink floyd have anything of the moon in any of there music videos on the dark side of the moon album?

There has been a bit of a surge of stuff in this area supported by the BBC and other people. I think it has been going under the name of The Open Archive (part of the Creative Commons Licensing thing).
Basically it's full of stock footage that you can use in your own projects with the restriction that you cannot make any money from anything you use it in, and you must credit it of course.
I'll have a look round for some links later. Try searching about for it though.

Actually after a more detailed look its an absolutely awesome link Dave, I can see some of this stuff coming in well useful. ;D

Might be worth filming for yourself? That way it'll be legal without restrictions, and no worries if the film gets some exposure and maybe a deal. |
