Hi Guys
I'm trying to think of a spontanious idea for a short film aiming at 5 minutes maximum and basically going to be a one or two man show, I have plenty wrttten but this is just one of those spur of the moment things.
I managed to film a dead body floating in the water (filmed my dad dressed face downin our swimming pool earlier and some shots of the sea and a police helicopter) I was thinking something like the body of a well known gangland figure has been found floating face down in the South East coastline and taking it from there. Any ideas for a little film based around a dead body found in the sea?

How about, two people trying to write the address for the dead man's funeral (something I sadly had to do not so long ago). To write it, they need to consider the man's character (lots of room for disagreement over what he was truly like), maybe one of the people is very unsympathetic, the other one wants to write a more tender piece. Lots of scribbling out as they try to get the exact words to sum him up. Room for a few jokes too (maybe joke about how long the police searched for him.. precisely zilch time because they were happy he might have been dead). It'd just need two people in a pub somewhere, or a house, whatever, and you could intercut with the footage you've already got.
All I reckon is, with a dead character, the cleverest way to depict them is via the gaps they leave in the lives of the living.
Good luck!

yeah i love that idea, maybe go for 4 or 5 mates sat at the pub remembering their friend but as it goes on we realise this guy wasn't a nice person really and had wronged everyone there.
It reminds me of the first i think, short story in brett easton ellis's collection the informers.
these preppy kids are sat round shooting the shit and one reminds everyone that it was a year since there mate crashed and died on the road. some of them talk about it and some dont and it seems the guy who was driving behind him, his mate was there with him when he died and he was good friends but he sort of bad mouths him where as the guy who the dead dude didnt like seems really cut up about it.
